Don't underestimate the value of great parking!

5 of 5
My family and I stayed at this Mission Beach home in early July of 2014. This wouldn't be our first trip to San Diego, but it would be our first trip to Mission Beach. I'll focus specifically on this home for the review, but will leave with a few pointers for Mission Beach travelers based on a newbie's lessons learned. The house was perfect for our family. We had a total of 4 adults, 2 teenagers, a 7 year old, 5 year old and 3 year old. That's a total of 9 people (including the little ones) and two cars. The house is three stories as described and had ample sleeping room for our crew. One family slept upstairs with two kids in the master bed, one family slept in the room on the 2nd floor and the teenagers and one adult took the first floor with the bunk beds. Everyone was very happy with their rooms, especially the family on the third floor. What an awesome view of the beach and a nice quiet room. The only knock we had on the first floor was that it could be quite noisy, meaning you could hear folks talking as they walked past the home on the way to the boardwalk. All of the appliances seemed fairly new and worked perfectly. TVs in the living room and master bedroom worked fine and cable (ATT Uverse) was a nice plus. When looking for a vacation rental I didn't understand why a few of the homes boasted about their parking garage or parking spaces. Well... Now I know! Parking can be a nightmare on Mission Beach. There's a lot of houses located on not a lot of space. Luckily, this home has premium parking! By premium, I mean we could fit our minivan in the garage and our sedan on the patio area next to the home. If you don't know Mission Beach, it's really hard to understand how awesome this. Also, parking can be intimidating if you're not use to using your mirrors and operating in tight places. We were nervous at first, but had it down within a day. I'd say this home was perfectly located on the beach for us. It was just tad far enough away from the boardwalk to keep noise down to a minimum, but walking back and forth to the beach was a breeze. Ultra convenient. Our little ones had no problem with the walk. We thoroughly enjoyed the bicycles, boogie boards, surf board and other beach gear. We were a little worried about the pacific ocean, but we all had a blast in the water. Helpful Hint: Mission beach can get crowded on Saturday. But don't worry, things settle down nicely Sun - Fri!

Arizona Family

5 of 5
WOW! That's our expression each time we come to this beautiful vacation home--this is our fifth year at this home and our 19th summer to visit San Diego. This home is the BEST one in the area. We come with our adult children and grandchildren and love being able to spend time together during meals and game times. The proximity to the beach, bay and other amenities is also a bonus. I love standing or sitting on the veranda on the third floor watching and listening to the ocean waves and enjoying the cool weather (we're from Arizona and it's blistering hot in July/August!) Janet takes great pride in keeping the home well maintained and is always concerned that her guests are comfortable. We have actually become good friends over the years and we are always looking forward to "next year's" vacation at the home. THANKS JANET!

Perfect Beach Experience

5 of 5
We simply loved our experience at the beach house. Working with Sarah was great, she demonstrated a concern for our needs and was always responsive to any inquiries in a very timely manner. We reserved this property for the week of July 12 – 19, 2014. This was a family vacation, we numbered 11 in all (6 adults and 5 young children). The house was as described and pictured on the site. The cleaning service had done an excellent job preparing the beach house for our time. We had three vehicles, two suv’s and a mid-size car. There was parking room for all, two in the garage and one behind the garage (what a plus). We found the kitchen to be more than adequate for all of our cooking needs. A real plus was that there was a 2nd refrigerator in the garage as well as a small one in the granny flat, giving us plenty of storage for food and drinks. There was ample sleeping space. The downstairs patio was great and a perfect setting for the evening meals. The gas grill was large enough for our needs. Another plus was there was adequate space to secure our bikes along the side of the beach house. The location was perfect, only steps to the beach, restaurants, and shops. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a great beach experience! In fact, we enjoyed it so much we have already booked a week next year.
