Set on a quiet street a very short stroll to the beach, Westwinds Cottage was even better than described. There’s a meticulous attention to detail in the decor of every room of this beautiful cottage that made it so inviting and homey. From the very soothing and relaxing hues and tones used throughout, to the cozy furniture and pretty decorations that were a fine balance of modern, classic, and nostalgic. My friend and I spent a few nights in this wonderful abode to celebrate her birthday and it was just perfect. We were touched by a lovely handwritten sign on a chalkboard welcoming us, as well as another very thoughtful sign with Happy Birthday wishes. In addition to the nice bottle of red wine, chocolates, and flowers placed in the cottage for our enjoyment, Sonia also left a little birthday gift. We thought that was such a kind gesture. Sonia and Darwin were a pleasure to work with and very responsive and attentive to our questions. The conversation and correspondence I had with Sonia prior to setting foot in this cottage confirmed my intuition that this was the place we should stay in. We were enlightened by Darwin’s story of the history of the cottage and neighborhood, and the longtime connection they had to his family. That made the cottage seemed even more special. This certainly wasn’t just a vacation property to Darwin and Sonia, it was a real home. The location was also key and ideal. Being so close to The Strand and the beach, we watched the sun set over the ocean every night, something we loved to do. Other than using the car one of the days to run errands, it wasn’t taken out of the garage the rest of the time and that felt great. There’s a number of excellent eateries and shops very close by so a car wasn’t needed. Our vacation was short but very sweet. Our time in the cottage was wondrous and we would love to stay there again. We wished we could have stayed much longer this time around.
