This hidden gem is perfect for a woman travelling solo.
I felt very safe in this area, and in the unit as the fence is automatically locked. You are very much hidden from passerbyers on the street, and did not feel exposed or vulnerable at all.
I decided at the last minute not to rent a car, so I can't speak on the parking but I definitely didn't need one.
I read some previous reviews about traffic noise and homeless people, but I didn't get anything unusual or extreme, and the street people are actually quite nice and non threatening. It was pretty quiet in the evenings.
I took advantage of the cafes and little watering holes and restaurants along the street, there is a pharmacy nearby, within walking distance to Whole Foods which has a deli/buffet for hot meals, and I can't even say enough, how much I enjoyed the mexican food truck across the street.
The bed is comfy is you like a firm bed, and the TV is on a pivot which gives you the option to watch from the bed or the living area ( though satellite signal is intermittent- bring a book if you are staying in)
There are two older beach bikes available, just make sure to check them before you leave. If you have any issues, the bike rental places along the beach are super nice to offer to help. These bikes were the highlight of my trip as the number of expansive bike lanes and trails gave me the best of what this area offered. You can also rent them cheap along the beach.
If you want to go on any Hollywood tours, they pick you up and drop you off at the Cadillac Hotel near by on the beach.
The property manager was excellent, quick in responses and on point with the whole process, as well as making himself available. It was comforting as a tourist to know you have a lifeline!
I've been all over the world, and Venice beach was one of my best vacations in part to this lovely property. I hope to return again.
