This property is heaven-on-earth and I feel so unbelievably blessed to have stayed here for a week! It was the perfect fit for what me and my two children (ages 13 and 15) were looking for in a Hollywood vacation spot. With only a mile or so to go before arriving at our rental home, I was momentarily worried that it would be too close to the hustle and bustle of Hollywood Boulevard. Yet, as soon as I hooked a quick left onto Outpost Drive and started weaving my way through the mansions lining this snaking mountain passageway, I knew that I had nothing to fear. “I feel like a movie star,” said my typically unimpressed daughter as we passed gated estates and pulled out onto Mullholland Drive. The fully-equipped kitchen (stove, refrigerator, oven, toaster, dishwasher, etc.) boasts all the appliances and utensils necessary to prepare a Thanksgiving feast! My daughter loved her bedroom, which, in addition to having a DVD player and big-screen TV, afforded her the opportunity to walk out her own personal sliding glass door and enjoy views of beautiful Runyon Canyon. The master bedroom is equally impressive with its two full-sized closets, sliding glass doors, and spacious king sized bed. I awoke every day and immediately walked out onto the private patio to take in the morning sunshine. Bathrooms are often a make-it-or-break-it situation for me when it comes to renting vacation homes. This property, thankfully, offers a recently remodeled bathroom (full spacious shower, plenty of counter space, wrap-around mirrors) that is actually bigger and nicer than either of my two bathrooms at home! Clearly, I could go on and on about the countless perks that this rental property has to offer (e.g., linens, washer and dryer, inside and outside dining tables, wifi) but what I appreciated most about this home was its location. It’s literally a convenient mile or two from touristy downtown Hollywood. Yet, despite its proximity, this home is protected from that commotion by the beautiful Hollywood Hills. Drive down LaBrea Avenue and you are quickly in Beverly Hills. Continue a little further and you will arrive at Santa Monica Pier/Beach, a pleasant jaunt we made several times during our week in the Los Angeles area. Frances is such a nice woman and she gave us the privacy we wanted but was only a quick phone call or email away if we needed anything. Needless to say, we would rent this home again in a heartbeat and we truly hope to do so again soon.
