A wonderful, restful time at Red Casita!

5 of 5
The Red Casita is an adorable little cottage in the back yard of an historic home in a safe, quiet Long Beach neighborhood. We couldn't have been more comfortable and content. The owner was kind and helpful, the manager wonderful to work with and the cottage itself was immaculately clean, well-stocked and simply and nicely decorated. I spent time writing and my son and I also visited relatives, went to Disneyland and CA Adventure for a couple of days and enjoyed the beach and other attractions in Long Beach. We went out only once in order to save money, cooking in the little kitchen which has an electric skillet, a microwave, toaster, 1/2-sized refrigerator and coffee maker. It was fun and easy to make our meals. The bed was comfortable and my son slept well in the small pull-out single bed. The cottage is close to several restaurants, coffee shops, Target, etc., but almost anything you'd need is within a few minutes driving distance. We will return!

Home Away From Home

5 of 5
This was my first time ever renting a weekend get-away house as I wanted to do something different while saving a little bit of money! What a wonderful experience. I will be back next year! The moment we entered this little cottage, we knew we were welcomed, and were not just some travelers looking for a place to sleep. I wasn't sure what to expect so we noted a store close by in case we needed to pick something up. Everything we needed was there. We were welcomed with a great bottle of wine and a couple pieces of chocolate! How sweet!! There is a comfortable outdoor living space where I enjoyed my coffee each morning and hung out in the evenings with a bite to eat and glass of wine to just chat. There's a well kept back yard with pretty colorful flowers and plants. Great place to sit outside enjoy the evening air to unwind after a busy day. The cottage fits two people very comfortable. My friend slept on the pull out sofa bed. She said she slept like a baby and was very comfortable. The bed was cozy and comfy too. The kitchen is fully equip with whatever you need to cook a meal. We didn't have a chance to cook while there as we were busy with plans...and using the coffee pot doesn't really count, right? But if we did want to cook, we could have! The décor is very warm and welcoming just like home and you feel it the moment you arrive. It's well maintained and much loved by the owners. The area is a quiet residential neighborhood within walking distance or a very short drive to little shops, grocery stores, local's in a great area and close to major highways, and less than 5 miles from downtown Long Beach. The train that takes you downtown is real close too. (Avoid expensive parking lot fees) This cozy cottage is a gem and a true find! And please sign the guest book. We forgot to and was disappointed that we didn't. (Sorry!) If I had to give one 'con', it would be's street parking and you really need to brush up on parallel parking. My poor attempts at parking was a great source of entertainment for my friend. She totally enjoyed that part! But be assured with our comings and goings all weekend, there was always a space right in front of the house or directly across the street. No need to search for a space. Thank you for a great weekend! I'll be back next year!
