For the past 3 years our 3 families usually go to Big Bear for our annual retreat. This year we decided that we wanted something a little closer without all the mountain driving. And we landed on Lake Arrowhead. Now the fun part of finding a place that is reasonable in cost and can accommodate 13 people (6 adults, 2 - 8 yr old girls, 3 - 5 & 6 yr old girls and 2 boys 4 & 5 yrs old). And we found Ashley's place! It had everything that we were looking for, enough bedrooms and bathrooms, internet, jacuzzi and a gorgeous view. There was plenty of room for when we all wanted to be together and enough space so that if anyone wanted some alone time they had that too.
We only had two minor inconveniences, the first was that the driveway was a little hard to find at first (partially because it was dark when we arrived). But once you find it, it’s no problem finding it again. The second was that there was no propane for the BBQ. We called Ashley and she said that we could refill the propane and we would be reimbursed, but by then it was too late and we decided to for go using the BBQ. This would have been a 5 Star review if there had been propane.
Ashley was very prompt at getting back to us if we had any questions. The property was as she described it although; she did not do herself justice by just saying lake views. It was gorgeous watching the sunrise break onto the lake and even more beautiful watching the sky light up with purples, oranges, reds and yellows as the sun set over the mountains!
While we were there, we had pizza at LouEddies and Mexican at Hortencia’s both very good. We went on a hike to Heart Rock, about a 2 mile round trip. The hike was just long enough and hard enough for everyone.
After such an enjoyable weekend, we all wish we could stay longer and we were even talking about possibly having a summer retreat as well. This will most likely be our go to place for our annual Winter Family Retreat. And we would recommend it to our friends and anyone else who has a group that wants to stay together.
