So relaxing - perfect family vacation

5 of 5
A perfect week with our 2 young kids (4 years old and 16 months). Some of our favorite things from the week: We saw deer in the yard and pulled up crawdads from the dock. The kids were of course super excited about both. The crawdads seemed to like sausage, so we caught between 0-3 per night (maybe the same ones over and over again!). The Fall colors were just starting, but the most spectacular sight was a large, low orange full moon on our way home in the early evening from Chester. A snapshot did not do it justice. We also made day trips to Lassen (where my husband and son hiked to Cold Boiling Lake) and to Round Valley Reservoir (where they caught some sunfish). We had fun exploring Chester - the candy shop, pie shop, and restaurants (the Tavern was our favorite dinner). The best was just hanging out at the house, not turning on the TV in lieu of doing "projects" (Legos, shrinky dinks, etc), and soaking up the pretty view to the lake from the lawn/porch. Such a great time! We want to return soon and kept thinking how pretty this place would be with snow on the ground, too. Thanks to the Curry Family for sharing this gem with us.

Quiet Get-Away

5 of 5
This was my second visit to this lovely home in 4 years. It offers comfort and a touch of luxury to enjoy the relaxing environment of Hamilton Branch. The customer service by the owners and their representative was top notch, with added information provided that gives any visitors a feeling of a home town trip. TVs available were only functioning for DVD viewing, so watching any normal channels was not available, but other than that, everything was perfect. I would definitely return and suggest this location to others.

Charming home with beautiful lake views

4 of 5
We stayed at this cozy cabin for a week in July 2012, total of 4 adults and 4 children (ages 12-14). This was our first trip up to Lake Almanor, and we were impressed with the beauty of the area. This home is right on the lake with lots of flat beach area, so it's convenient for watching children playing on the beach. Don and Cheryl were at the cabin upon our arrival and greeted us with an enthusiastic and friendly welcome. They gave us some quick pointers and information about the home and the area, which was very helpful. The home came fully stocked with lots of essentials from toilet paper to paper plates and utensils, more than we've experienced in any other rental home. It is quite cozy; with 8 of us the living area felt a little small, but we spent the majority of our time outdoors. The important thing was it was clean and well organized. We had to call them to fix a plumbing issue, and they handled the situation immediately and had a plumber out to the house as soon as possible. Overall, we enjoyed the home and our time together. The kids had such a great time playing on the beach and jumping off the dock. A couple notes unrelated to the home: we noted that the lake does get pretty choppy by late morning. We brought our ski boat (crossover ski/wakeboarding boat), and it took quite a beating out on the buoy due to the waves. The bracket and screw that holds our back platform broke from the rough water while tethered to the buoy. The best water is of course early morning for skiing/boarding or late afternoon as the wind calms down. Other than that, the lake is beautiful with lots of scenery. Our friends took the kayak out on the lake provided at the home to enjoy the beautiful area. After our trip we received a thank you note from Don and Cheryl, asking for any other feedback. Such a nice thought. I appreciate their thoughtfulness and their concerns to make the home comfortable for all their guests. Thank you for a memorable vacation!
