In about a week we (my wife and I) will be getting ready to return to Canada after spending a glorious 10 months in Richard's Windansea condo at 329 Bonair St., La Jolla, California. This "feedback" is written primarily for readers who may be considering this option for their next vacation. This is a lovely, spacious and very well-equiped 2-bedroom, 3-bathroom, 2-story condo in a small (9 unit) project. We were completely comfortable here when we were alone. Moreover, because not only the master bedroom but also the second one each have their own bathrooms (with lovely showers) the condo was also very comfortable when we had guests. For the same reason it would be very suitable for 2 couples or a family. There is a den, downstairs off the living room with its own closet and doors. We used this mostly as a play-room for our visiting grand child, but there is a hide-a-bed in this room that we used on occasion for a single guest (it sleeps 2). The whole apartment is very nicely appointed. All our guests commented on the lovely sinks in the 3 bathrooms. We found our bed exceptionally comfortable. There are large flat screen TVs in the living room and master bedroom. The kitchen is well-equipped. We loved having a gas stove with a center griddle. The table in the eating area between the kitchen and living room has 2 leaves (stored within). We usually had this set up for 4 or 6 (no leaves) but when we had company it was nice to be able to open this up for 8 people (and there are 8 nice dining room chairs). The condo is located 1/2 block from the Windansea beach which we found more interesting than the long stretch of boring Pacific-to-Mission Beach and a famous surfing beach. This lovely neighborhood is a mix of permanent and visiting residents. There are several restaurants within a block or two. When we were feeling energetic we would walk to the village of La Jolla to expand our restaurant choices or to play bridge (at the La Jolla Cover Bridge Club) overlooking the ocean at the tip of Scripps Park. Although the apartment has 3 nice balconies (from 2 of which you can glimpse the ocean!), these are not commodious enough to accommodate sitting outside. Perhaps the most positive thing we can tell you is that after living here for 10 months we want to move here permanently. We are actively looking in the Windansea neighborhood and are using Richard's accommodations as a guide for the kind of space we would like our new home to have.
