A Terrific Way To "Go Native" In La Jolla

5 of 5
Our family of four (mom, dad, 11-yr old girl, 15-yr old boy) just spent a terrific week staying at this apartment, which is situated right in the heart of La Jolla Village. This second floor apartment was spotless and very well appointed. We were honestly lacking nothing to make our stay comfortable. Within walking distance of restaurants, a good grocery store, the beach and other amenities, we really enjoyed going native for the week. The Farmers Market, held every Sunday, is ONE block away! A real bonus was the great patio that we enjoyed every morning and then every evening when we returned from our day of exploring. Although these points didn't detract from our family's enjoyment of the property, you may have different ideas of what constitutes a perfect vacation rental: 1) No pool 2) No off-street parking (we didn't have an issue finding on-street parking but La Jolla is densely populated and it may be an issue at certain times of the year). 3) No ceiling fans in the bedrooms. We slept with the windows open; it was a bit noisy with traffic first thing in the morning during the week. 4) The apartment is accessed by a flight of steps. 5) The place is a bit "lighting challenged" for reading at night. Finally, I can't say enough positive things about our hosts. They were very, very nice people who are clearly adept when it comes to managing the property appropriately for guests (they've been at it since 2006). Take some time to get to know them. They are dyed-in-the-wool Californians who are a wealth of knowledge!

Great home for our golfing group

5 of 5
Our group of 10 stayed at this amazing home while on our golf trip at Torrey Pines Golf Course. We had an amazing trip. The house had everything we could need and the location and views were fabulous. We all loved BBQ outside, playing ping pong and sitting around the fireplace. The weather was great and the sunrise and sunsets were amazing. The owners were very easy to work with and anwsered all our questions on where to go to eat and what to do in the area. There were many great restaurants and things to do in the area. Sea World and the San Diego Zoo were a lot of fun. Golfing at Torrey Pines Golf Course was the highlight of our trip. The house is in a quiet neighborhood and is very private. It worked really well for my parents who were elderly because it is all one level. The kitchen was awesome and the house was absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend this house you really feel like you are on to of the world. Thanks Bernie

Had an AMAZING time at this beautiful beach house!

5 of 5
My husband and I and our 3 kids absolutely LOVED this Windansea beach house! Ingrid was very welcoming, responsive and helpful, and was available for any questions during our stay...she actually lives right down the street. We stayed on the second floor of this lovely home, and it met our needs perfectly. The house is literally 2 or 3 houses away from a beautiful beach with tide pools and an awesome surf break. Ingrid let us borrow some beach toys, and we literally spent hours exploring the incredible tidal pools along the shore - that was my childrens' favorite thing to do. We don't have anything like that in Florida! Convenient place to wash your feet by the door downstairs after each beach adventure so you don't track sand everywhere. The house is decorated with a colorful beach theme and has lots of windows so it is very bright and sunny. There is a cute balcony upstairs with a grill for outdoor cooking. Huge TV in the den/living area, two large bedrooms, bathroom, and a kitchen and dining room/breakfast nook make the house inviting and comfortable. Free wi-fi was included - we had everything we needed. It's about a 5-10 minute walk into downtown La Jolla, so we were able to walk to restaurants and shops in the evening. This was a great home base to explore and enjoy all the local attractions. Perfect size for a family with small children, or two adult couples. You could rent out the top and first floor units if you had a bigger group. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe and is full of gorgeous million-dollar homes. Incredible view of the sunset over the water. I can't say enough great things about this beautiful house - it is full of charm, right next to the beach, located in the awesome community of Windansea, very well-maintained, and owned by very attentive, sweet hosts! We would definitely recommend this house to others, and we'd LOVE to come back and stay here again. In fact, we hope to come back next summer and stay here even longer!
