Wanting to share a great experience

I was looking for a quick getaway this past July and I found this great little place in the Lake Erwin area of Big Bear. The location is better than I expected, at the end of a quiet street. The view is this big meadow backed by the mountain range. There are horses grazing totally idyllic, I felt far from the urban jungle I was escaping. In a place where "country cabin" is the norm, the decor was refreshingly modern and new. Space is well thought out, and considering it's a one bedroom house we had plenty of room. I slept in the bedroom and the bed was really comfortable I slept great. My friend slept on the pullout sofa and she said it was comfortable too. It wasn't cold this time of year but I noticed there were plenty of blankets to wrap up with so they're ready for the winter. I'm not really a snow person but for those who are I can imagine how nice it would be getting a fire going in the fireplace when it's snowing outside. The unexpected surprise was the front porch was a such a great place to hang out and have coffee in the morning and enjoy the view, By afternoon the house shaded the porch, so we spent the majority of our time out there. We definately used the BBQ! There's some great hiking trails nearby. Walking through the neighborhood we discovered a flat road that curves around the lake we walked each morning. Ahhhh, clean mountain fresh air!! I had a really great time here and I totally recommend this place. Great price, view A++,quiet.

Our gathering was 14 people, and the house was more than comfortable for our group. This is a fun place because their are actually 2 houses, both with full kitchens and living rooms. The larger home is still not huge, but uses the space well, with a common sleeping are that can fit 10 people on it's own, if you don't mind some open walls. There are also TONS of seating as there were two large wood tables, with chairs for everyone. The location was also great, as shopping and the village are VERY close. You could almost walk to the village if you're up for the hike. We also had quite a few vehicles, as not everyone could car pool, but there was ample street parking, and 2 driveways that allowed for everyone to park. The owner's nephew met us at the house, and gave us the keys, and explained everything to us, so we knew where everything was. Only one VERY minor complaint, the first day we were there, the internet wasn't working. We were going to call the owner, but then the circuit breaker for the kitchen popped when we had the coffee maker on with the fan in the bathroom next to kitchen on at the same time. This reset the router, and internet was restored!! Crisis averted! If you have a group gathering, this is a good location to have it. The other cabins are a bit closer than we anticipated, and we tried to keep our volume low during quiet hours, so I hope we accomplished this, as there didn't seem to be many other people occupying the adjacent houses. We'll definitely consider this again for a trip next year. Thanks again Granny!!
