CHARMING LOS ANGELES GETAWAY!

4 of 5
I was recently in Los Angeles to sing at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, and this little gem in Hollywood couldn't have been more perfect! You can walk to the Hollywood and Highland Metro stop (Red Line), which takes you to several downtown stops, including the WDCH. It's probably a 15 minute walk to the metro stop from the house. But it will take you just as long to drive the short distance, and much more interesting. Yes, you walk past Hollywood High School. Cool! The bungalow has a great size living/dining room with all the amenities of home. The front patio is perfect for evening wine or breakfast purchased at Trader Joe's or Ralph's (can walk to both). The kitchen has everything you need, and the stackable washer/dryer unit worked like a charm. The smaller bedroom has a daybed/trundle, which was comfortable to sleep on. The main bedroom had a very comfortable mattress, and was at the back of the house for optimal sleeping. The walk-in shower and the updated bathroom are also very nice. Central A/C rounds out the amenities, although we slept with the windows open. Yes, that's right. In Hollywood, sleeping with the windows open. Great sleeping weather! A trip to Los Angeles can be a bit daunting if you're not prepared for the traffic, noise, and general big-city life. But if you enjoy unique properties, you like to walk, you hate to drive, and you like feeling like part of a city, then this is the place for you. You won't regret it.

COMFORTABLE, GREAT HOSTS

5 of 5
While small, this property is comfortable and was immaculate when we arrived. Personally, I would have preferred if there were a small, indoor table at which one could eat, which alas there is not, but there is plenty of outdoor furniture, and the hosts are very generous with their space. We had a great time using the pool which is full of cute flotation devices for kids, and enjoying the sun and garden. The hosts are some of the most involved and hospitable that I've encountered through homeaway (and I've never had any trouble, so this is excellent as compared to good, not good as opposed to indifferent or bad). Due to an error on my part, we had some confusion with our schedule which inconvenienced our hosts, but they were very generous about helping us to fix the problem. Good people, and a good place to stay.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE AT GUESTHOUSE OASIS!

5 of 5
Our family of 3 stayed at this guesthouse for a week in July 2011, and it was nothing short of amazing. The backyard is simply incredible, with waterfalls, color-changing pool lights, and lit palm trees that create a spectacular scene at night. We used the pool and hot tub nearly every day, roasted s'mores over the fire pit, and grilled several meals poolside at the outdoor kitchen. It's also perfectly located in Hollywood; absolutely everything we needed to do was within an hour (and we went all over LA), and the neighborhood was wonderful for jogging, walking to shops and restaurants, and seeing the sights on Hollywood Blvd. Our family agreed we had our best vacation ever, and it had everything to do with coming home to this oasis at the end of each day. I'd like to note also that the owner was especially accommodating, he made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. We can't wait to stay here again, only next time it will be for longer than a week!
