Villa Montara is absolute magic. There is sense of awakening the moment the gates open. It's as if it was the first time I've ever seen the ocean. On the left sits a massive yet delicate concrete piece of art that fits so naturally in place on the cliff. An antique wood trailer is nestled in the corner like it's been there as long as the house has. The plants around you seemed carefully and thoughtfully picked out. That's one of the best qualities of this place. It is apparent that every single object was carefully chosen to complement earth and architecture.
I can go on and on about the finest details of this property, however, what I want to emphasize most on is the interior design. Rolled up brown paper in a hollowed out drum. Who knew that would look so beautiful? The floors are exquisite. I felt as if I was walking on a pier. Turtle doves in the upstairs bathroom truly look like a pair in love. Every chair, every sofa is meant to sleep on - not to just lay on - but to dream on. The pillows and the seats envelops you and invites you to stay all night. The bridge has the sofa of my dreams. Looking out west towards the sunset laying on feathers of I'm assuming goose down is the most calm I've ever been. I was at complete peace and awe at that moment knowing that the next day will be the start of my beautiful married life. After the sunset, the wind kicks in and the fort transforms into another world. I love the sound of treacherous weather and here you can hear the heavy whistling of Mother Nature through the windows. I almost wanted to take cover but the glow of the romantic lights and the burning pellet stove reminded me that this house will protect us. You walk outside in the absolute dark lit only by a star - I felt frightened and secure at the same time. I fortunately experienced all this on the weekend of my beautiful wedding.
Lastly, William and Christine. They are kind, kind souls - the kind that you get to meet only if you're lucky enough and meeting them was a great wedding gift. Thank you William and Christine for welcoming us in your home.
