The Jumping Deer apartment made a great home base for our Labor Day weekend visit to Yosemite. The best thing about it is the location, away from the crowds in the valley yet inside the park so you don't have the extra drive and wait at the entrances for a multiple day visit. You'll do a lot of driving to see all the sights in the park so why add any extra miles to your visit? Food service in the park isn't that great so it's also nice to be able to cook with a full kitchen. The unit is nothing fancy, but it's well maintained and we found everything clean and in working order. It was in the mid-90s in the valley while we were there. Not sure what the temperature was in the unit, but it wasn't too warm without air conditioning. We just kept the windows open and used the fans. The gas grill worked well and we enjoyed a nice lunch on the patio one day. Only a few uninvited flies came to visit.
As mentioned in other reviews you have to go down a lot of steps to get to the unit so if anyone in your party has difficulty with stairs this property is not for you! The other two floors were occupied while we were there, but we did not hear any noise from above so the noise insulation must be good.
Couple of negatives...the sofa bed is low quality. My adult son put up with sleeping on it for three nights, but he wasn't happy about it. May be OK for small children, but not for average size adults. If you're an internet junkie you will not be happy with the limited wifi in the unit. The times that wifi is made available are the times that you'll probably be out enjoying the park.
I'd recommend this unit for a couple or for a family with two small children. Four adults may find it too cozy unless you're used to travelling with four adults in hotel room. The owners were great at communicating by email and their directions and recommendations were right on!
