Reality meets fantasy

5 of 5
I was looking to escape the Boston cold last winter and Encinitas seemed like a great place for a month-long business relocation and mind relocation. My wife researched 3 places on VRBO that looked promising. When I looked at the first one, the Tropical Plantation Beach Cottage, I decided that was the one. My wife pleaded with me to look at the other two because she had spent so much time talking with the owners, but my mind was made up. Rarely does reality match expectations but when I arrived the cottage exceeded my already high expectations. If you were passing by it looks like a very nice house in a very nice quiet neighborhood. When you enter you are transported to a serene, amazing fantasy. From the huge palm trees lit at night, to the multiple fireplaces, to the comfortable canopied cushioned lounge in the back (with HI DEF TV and music) next to the private hot tub, this is the place dreams are made of. When he is not off on some amazing adventure, Eric is like having a friendly, handy neighbor living close by along with his trusted companion Ono the dog. If you need him he is there, if you are fine on your own you will not see him. I decided not to rent a car for my time in Encinitas and it was a great decision. I was able to walk just about anywhere I needed, which included the beach, a number of restaurants on Highway 101, the meditation gardens and the hardware store. Anytime I did not feel like walking I just used an Uber taxi, usually available within 2 minutes. I could go on, but I think the best thing that I can say in a few words is that I booked up 2 months for the following year when I was checking out. Those two months happen to be coming real soon, as I will be checking in this year on January 1. My only fear in writing this review is that someone else might try to rent for January and February next year. Please do not do that or I will throw small rocks at your window. But feel free to inquire about the other 10 months. Enjoy.

This Place Is Perfect!

5 of 5
Besides a great location the bungalow is so bitchen we felt like we were once again on our honeymoon in Costa Rica but with home comfort and without the humidity and bugs. It was like a vacation but in fact having good Internet I was actually working remotely everyday. The house has so much personality yet famillarity after a few days we started to believe we lived there :). Walk to everything, beach, bar, restaurant, grocery etc. or take one of the bikes out or don't go out and make dinner at home and watch the big sceen TV or sit in the backyard with the landscaped lights on and listen to the Koi pond waterfall and just chill. We will go back next year....a no brainer.

Perfect for large families and dogs!

5 of 5
This place was everything advertised and more! We had a great time, and the house worked perfectly with three kids, my mother, and two dogs. Our stay could not have been better! The beach was just a short walk away, there were cute shops and good restaurants right nearby, and the house was clean and lovely. The fenced in yard was perfect for privacy and making sure our dogs could run around safely. We had a wonderful stay, and will definitely be coming back here the next time we're on the west coast! (The only thing I would recommend would be a new couch! ;))
