This little studio is in the perfect location in Del Mar. It is just a short walk (a block and a half) to the beach, maybe 3-4 short blocks to Jake's (one of the great restaurants in Del Mar) and then just a little further to the Del Mar square which has many restaurants and cute shops. The studio is sufficiently equipment (minus the basics condiments that you might normally expect to find in a private type rental) but that was not a problem for me.
Two special notes: There are other comments about the train going by at night. There is a commuter train that goes by and it is very close (physically) to the back of the studio. It absolutely did not bother me though. The other note--the studio does not have air conditioning. I arrived on 5/1 and it was unusually hot in Del Mar that day (90-ish). Given that the studio is upstairs with a wall of windows facing the west, it was quite hot. The owner was very kind and quickly purchased and delivered a portable fan. That was sufficient to get me through that day and then the heat was not a problem the rest of my trip. I would stay here again as long as the temps are expected to be below 90. The location and the price make this place!
