I love this place! Stayed here for a week in early July 2014. It is private as can be, the closest neighbor about 1/4 mile away and not visible. You are surrounded by golden brown hills dotted with oak, redwood and doug fir on three sides. To the east is the Alexander Valley spread out before you. You are definitely out in the country here -- coyotes howling at night, deer, wild turkeys and boar on the hillsides, and, though I didn't see any, plenty of rattlers for you snake lovers. You have about 50 acres of land to explore if you are so inclined, though the hillsides can be somewhat challenging. The house is decorated very tastefully --you'll feel as though you are in a French provincial country house, with its antique lamps, chests, rugs, etc. Bathrooms and kitchen are completely modern. This kitchen has all the cooking utensils you will need. The pool area is lovely -- a plunge pool just perfect for those summer days when it reaches into the 90's as it did during my stay. And you are just a short 15 minute drive to the Russian River. There are several areas along 101 you can just pull over and hop into the cool river. Plenty of firewood for a fire in the fire pit at night, or in the wood-burning stoves on days when it's cool. This home is picturesque beyond belief, with stunning views from almost every room in the house. I'll be back. The hosts Susie and Cary are gracious and kind. If you want a place that's away from it all, but actually quite close to both the Alexander and Anderson Valley wine regions, this place is it. I'll be back again.
