Spontaneous trip

5 of 5
This cottage was great! It was perfect! It was so cute!!! Great location to walk to Main St. Amazing restaurants and lots of outdoor activities close by. We rented bikes and rode down to the beach in minutes. The cottage was very clean. The owner was very accommodating and easy to work with. We can't wait to visit again!

A quiet respite not far from hustle bustle if LA

5 of 5
This is a great property, very close to beach & pretty close to LA, but you'd never know it! Very quiet neighborhood, lovely home with all the amenities. Great kitchen, huge fridge, large patio & comfy beds. The TV area is quite relaxing & features a large screen tv with all the bells & whistles. Unfortunately, our family is always on the move doing various activities, so I didn't get to sit & read & relax as much as I would have liked. The patio & couches lend themselves to relaxing reading sessions. We took 2 meals at the local fish & chips cafe on Seaward, riding our bicycles the 1/4 mile. They WILL grill their fish at your request...a huge feature if you're trying to avoid fried foods. We also did the 6 mile round trip to the pier, where there was a Sunday craft fair at the towering hotel. Very easy ride on a bright sunny day, with a beautiful breeze. This house is a great base from which to work from...just allow yourselves time to enjoy it!

The perfect getaway!

5 of 5
Home Port Cottage provided the perfect setting in every way for a four day getaway for the two of us in beautiful Carmel. Prior to our arrival, Cheryl and Connie promptly answered all our questions about the property and, as our arrival date approached, provided us with information about the lock box entry to the cottage. This system does not require a formal check-in worked and it worked well, since our flight was three hours late and we did not get to the cottage until later that first evening. Once inside, we were greeted by beautiful fresh flowers, a welcome note from the owner, as well as generous and tasty bags of almonds and pistachios. The welcome package also included very easy-to-use local maps of Carmel and the surrounding area. The cottage proved to be so much more spacious and well appointed than we expected. It is tastefully decorated and was spotless on our arrival. There are large windows everywhere which allow plenty of natural light into every room in the cottage. Even though Home Port cottage is set among three other cottages and a house, we enjoyed complete privacy sitting in the outdoor patio and garden each evening. The cottages are situated in a way to provide maximum privacy for all the guests. The kitchen was well stocked with every utensil we needed for preparing our meals. The owners generously supplied us with coffee beans from a local roaster (the kitchen has a coffee grinder) and coffee filters that fit the small drip coffeemaker. There was also an assortment of teas provided. The spacious living room was very comfortable and we enjoyed the remote controlled gas log fireplace every morning and evening. The bedroom was much larger than we expected, so the king bed did not overwhelm the space. There are several large walk in closets that provide ample space for hanging clothes. The cottage is only one block from the beach, which we enjoyed walking several times during our stay. The extraordinary 17 mile drive starts just four blocks down the same street where the cottage is located. Similarly, the very fine restaurants in downtown Carmel are no more than a 10 minute walk from the cottage (uphill going into town, downhill returning to the cottage). We enjoyed eating at Andre's Bouchee, The Flying Fish, and Porta Bella. We highly recommend Home Port Cottage for any couple looking for a very comfortable and spacious accommodation from which to enjoy the natural beauty and fine dining in the Carmel area.
