Home Couldn't Be Better!

5 of 5
My cousin and I try to go every January around our birthdays. We were a little late in getting away. But, as usual, our stay was fab-u-lous!! Spring-like weather greeted us with clear views up and down the Bay. Aside from fresh fruits/veggies and meats, we love that we don't have to buy a THING for preparing meals: The dinnerware is sturdy but pretty (NOT commercial), the flatware, pots/pans are sufficient, but best of all we never have to bring seasonings, pot holders, dishtowels or dish washing soap! Even the laundry soap is provided! We recently stayed at another place (not VRBO) and were truly disappointed by the stark LACK of basic amenities! There are books, DVDs, CDs, and GAMES galore! Plenty of beach chairs, etc. I can't imagine any place more comfy. We have been SO spoiled by all the little touches at Pelican 75. Every time we walk in the door it's with a huge sigh of relief: We're home!"

The minute I opened the gate to this charming cottage I felt at home. I loved waking up each morning to walk out onto the front stone patio and garden filled with bougainvillea and lovely fountain facing the mountains - It felt like Tuscany The cottage is cozy and has all the amenities . Although the kitchen is small, it suited my purpose I did not spend much time cooking. Everything was clean and in pristine condition except for the bathroom which needs a bit of s facelift. I would definitely return to this hideWay. I really enjoyed meeting the neighbors too! Loved the location - 5 minute drive to downtown and a ten minute jog to the beach.

Lovely home away from home with only a few minor quirks.

4 of 5
First off, let me get this out of the way - this is an absolutely beautiful location. Literally a stones throw away from the ocean front right outside the balcony. The condo itself is very lovely, decorated and equipped to make you feel right at home. All you need to bring is your clothes and toiletries. However, there are a few small issues that prevent me from saying that this place was absolutely perfect. First, the big glass doors on the balcony are at just the perfect angle to have the sun just beaming directly in during the fall when I stayed there. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but there are no blinds or curtains to block the sun from coming in and its so intensely bright with the water reflecting off the ocean that it almost makes the living room unusable without sunglasses from about 2:00 to 6:00. We jury-rigged a ghetto curtain using a spare sheet and some pants hangers, but this presented other problems. We hung the hangers on the molding "lip" around the patio doors but the wind kept blowing the sheet down. Well simple solution right? Close the door. Okay, well we would have but there isn't an AC in this place and we were starting to get a little warm. Keeping the doors open to let the ocean breeze in was the only way to cool the place down a bit. So then we had to get even MORE Ghetto and tape the hangers to the door frame so they wouldn't get blown off. I admit, this probably isn't a problem for everybody, but I was renting the place for a few days and was planning on lounging for part of it. If you're just looking for a place to sleep and don't plan on hanging out here in the middle of the day then it probably won't matter to you. Another thought you might have is hey, why not just spend time in another part of the condo? Well that gets to my second issue. Although there are three TVs in this place, only the one in the living room actually has working cable. This sounds nitpicky, and it probably is, but depending on your situation that might be a big deal. Other than the lack of a curtain of some sort, non-existant AC, and two of the three TVs not working this place was absolutely wonderful and I would definitely stay again.
