Family Vacation

5 of 5
We stayed here, all 18 of us for our annual family vacation. The home was perfected suited for us. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook all our meals and plenty of dishes/glasses and silverware. The beds are very comfortable and there is an abundance of bedding. If you like to hike, bike, beachcomb and enjoy your family in a beautiful location I would highly recommend this location to you!

Beautiful large home near aquarium

5 of 5
Home was lovely with many beautiful touches throughout. The gourmet kitchen was well stocked with appliances, utensils, cookware. Flow from the kitchen to the family room, where we gathered almost exclusively, to the dining room made for easy conversations while food was being prepared. We were there over Christmas and the owners provided a decorated tree with lights and other home decorations--that was a huge hit for our family that we didn't have to buy a tree or bring our own decorations. The Monterey Bay Aquarium was an easy 3 block walk making the trek to Cannery Row feel like a stroll. Plus in the house were two complimentary passes to the aquarium! Large houses with enough room to accommodate large families is hard to find, but this house was a gem. Two small areas for improvement: enough wine glasses for a crowd and a more thoroughly cleaned kitchen when we arrived.

We Will Be Back

5 of 5
My husband and I have been to Carmel 14 times and this time we decided to bring our 3 adult kids and their spouses and our 2 grandchildren. I looked at almost every property in Carmel and Monterey and finally decided on the Acorn Ranch. And I made the right decision. We oohhhed and aahhhed over every detail from the minute we drove up. The ocean views were far more spectacular than I had imagined and the decks provided many spaces for people to enjoy their own privacy. It was very obvious that a gifted architect designed and owned the home. Every detail was exceptional - the furniture, the antiques, the artwork, the ceilings, the walls, the skylights, and the fireplaces. Our family hit all of the incredible sights of Carmel and Big Sur during our stay - Pebble Beach for early morning walks and evening dinner at The Bench overlooking the 18th green. Rocky Point and Nepenthe at Big Sur were highlights and we walked across the street to Point Lobos for some of the most beautiful sights in the world. Clint Eastwood's Mission Ranch was a favorite along with Doris Day's Cypress Inn sitting outside by the fire. I would also recommend Casanova for lunch and walking along Scenic Drive. But with all of the incredible moments we experienced, we carved out time at the Acorn Ranch to sit in the sun overlooking the ocean or eating around the fabulous dining room table. Everyone loved the ranch - and the grandbabies especially loved the cows, horses, turkeys, and the deer. Mark took great care of us. Answered the phone with our every need and managed to get our toilet fixed within a few hours even though he was out of town for a day. I almost hate to let others know how great it is because I want to keep it our secret. So save us a spot - WE WILL BE BACK.
