Everything you could ask for in a vacation rental

5 of 5
Big Sur Magic was just magical. We had another vacation rental through AIRbnb cancel on us, 3 days before our trip. I was grateful to go online and find this property available. From the first contact with Anne, it was a positive experience. She was timely with her replies to my questions and gracious enough to provide local information on hiking, parks and other highlights of the area. Then she sent a list of questions to obtain our likes and dislikes and any special requests for breakfast options, as well as letting us know the many amenities this property offers. The photos are very accurate an you see the ocean from the deck. Although the guest quarters are connecting to the main house, you have complete privacy. Anne and John only responded to our requests or if we initiated contact, except for the delivery of the most amazing chocolate desserts by "Chef" John. They were truly sinful and 5 star quality. The house is in a neighborhood, but unlike other rentals in the area, you do not look over other houses, but just the tree tops out to Yankee Point. It is amazing to watch the fog roll in off the sea, although while we were there it was mostly sunny and clear, which is normal this time of year. We were shocked at how well stocked the place was. Every toiletry item you would need, gourmet kitchen accessories, made things very convenient. This location is perfect because it is only 5 minutes from Carmel, but far away from the lights, so the stars were amazing. It is also only 10 minutes from Bixby Bridge and vistas that even during September offered a pod of humpbacks right off the coast for several hours 2 afternoons. We got amazing video/photos. There is also Rocky Point Restaurant another must see for good food and amazing views of the sea, as well as some trails. There are parks all along the Hwy 1/Big Sur drive and each one is a new wonder to behold. If you are looking for a high quality accommodation, with privacy, every creature comfort you would need and the convenience of washer/dryer and garage, in a quiet neighborhood with perfect hosts, this is it. We only stay in vacation rentals and have been doing so for decades. Big Sur Magic gets top billing in our book. I check reviews on all properties and coming all the way from Texas we had no clue, but rest assured this place will exceed your expectations.
