Everything we could have hoped for!

5 of 5
I cannot say enough about this beautiful home and its location. My family of 4 never stopped thanking me for finding this place. When you arrive, the privilege of opening the blinds over the huge well positioned windows feels like pulling open the wrapping paper to reveal this home's ultimate gift- the breathtaking ocean views! For the 7 days of our stay it was our morning ritual to promptly open the screen door leading to the balcony (and any other windows I could open), not wanting to miss a moment of the sound of those incredible ocean waves, nor the refreshing smell of the ocean air. Mornings on the deck are fabulous, if you like to drink your coffee while spotting whales and dolphins, as we did. Mesmerizing! Just a few steps across the 2 lane street, not a bother, and you're on the boardwalk. A short half block south and you have steps down to Moonstone Beach. Just a couple minutes walk further up shore to Shamel Park! Just a few minutes walk the other direction and you're at The Sea Chest. Im sorry to say we missed out on that one, but I hear it's a wonderful dinner, as long as you arrive early enough for a table, or better yet the chef's bar. You cannot lose with this home's location. Not to minimize the attributes of this unique house, itself, with the beautiful but simple decorations, commercial range and high quality (and quiet running kitchen appliances). Beds are high quality, firm mattresses. I might bring a mattress topper next time. But I like a soft bed. No biggy- I barely cared when I could look right past my toes at the end of the master bed and thru the window to take in the white caps of those gorgeous waves! With views like these, we barely ever felt the urge to turn on one of the several large flat screens, which is unlike us. We are TV watchers! The property owner, Sonja does a fine job of preserving the condition of this unique home, and we were happy to oblige with any of the conditions placed on our stay (i.e, no shoes in the home, no leaky cars in the garage)- all attest to the kind of care given, ensuring that when you arrive your accommodations will meet, if not exceed the expectations of even a clean freak like me! We had such an amazing, relaxing stay. I almost shed a tear, I think, pulling out of the garage that last day of our stay. This is definitely a place you will want on your list of regulars among your travel destinations. I don't want to stay anywhere else. Thank you Sonja, from our whole family, for sharing!

Enchanting honeymoon getaway!

5 of 5
This adorable cabin is the perfect spot for a true romantic getaway. It is tucked back off of the street in a beautiful foresty area and the minute you walk in the door, you know youre not going to want to leave. When we arrived, the owner met us there and provided so many ideas for us on where to eat, site see, etc. And then she let us be for the rest of the weekend. Not only is the cabin amazing, but the town of Cambria is sooo quaint. We walked around downtown, did some wine tasting, smoked cigars, and treated ourselves to a nice dinner. Everything is so clean and fresh, it reminded us of Disneyland. And of course the beach is right there and we went on a beautiful hike along the San Simeon coast. The elephant seals were captivating. Anyway, we cant say enough good things about this cabin and town. In fact, we are so fond of it that we are planning to return for our one year anniversary in July and are very much looking forward to it!!

What a gem!

5 of 5
My family, which includes 3 teenagers and a 120 pound black lab, stayed at The Big Red House for 5 nights in August and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. The house is immaculately maintained and the location is incredible! Apparently most families who stay here bring dogs but you can't tell when you're here. There's not a dog hair to be found in the place! The kitchen is well stocked, the video library is hard to beat, the flat screen TVs are amazing, and so is the view. The master bedroom faces the ocean and when the windows are open and the sea breeze is coming through it is Heaven on earth! The house is located in a very upscale neighborhood and we took walks in the neighborhood every day. If I had to find a complaint (and it's hard to come up with one) I guess it would be that the backyard isn't fenced. Our dog isn't the type that you can just let out and he'll stick around, so we had to take him out on a leash each time he needed to go potty. But who cares. We were on vacation and it was no big deal. We'll definitely be back!
