Great place for a family reunion

5 of 5
Our family gathered for a reunion and chose the Pickford House because of its location, half way between Northern California and Southern California, as we live in both locations. We had a fantastic time. The little town of Cambria is delightful. The Friday Farmers' Market is great. "Moonstone" Beach is great. It wasn't even windy on the beach! The house is big enough for all of us to gather around the table for meals and sit around the fireplace, although, it was too warm for a fire, it was still lovely! All of the rooms are nicely theme decorated. Being foodies, we are all about the kitchen and meals. Two nice big frig/freezers, 6 burner stove, oven (BUT no broiler, just FYI), electric waffle iron that works great! Toaster, mixer, blender.... some basic spices and cornstarch. The kitchen has seen better days, but it worked great and plenty big enough for a bunch of people working in there. The big bar made for a nice backdrop for a group photo as well as a place for gathering. We plan to go back!!! Thanks, Marci for a great time!

Enchanting honeymoon getaway!

5 of 5
This adorable cabin is the perfect spot for a true romantic getaway. It is tucked back off of the street in a beautiful foresty area and the minute you walk in the door, you know youre not going to want to leave. When we arrived, the owner met us there and provided so many ideas for us on where to eat, site see, etc. And then she let us be for the rest of the weekend. Not only is the cabin amazing, but the town of Cambria is sooo quaint. We walked around downtown, did some wine tasting, smoked cigars, and treated ourselves to a nice dinner. Everything is so clean and fresh, it reminded us of Disneyland. And of course the beach is right there and we went on a beautiful hike along the San Simeon coast. The elephant seals were captivating. Anyway, we cant say enough good things about this cabin and town. In fact, we are so fond of it that we are planning to return for our one year anniversary in July and are very much looking forward to it!!

What a gem!

5 of 5
My family, which includes 3 teenagers and a 120 pound black lab, stayed at The Big Red House for 5 nights in August and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. The house is immaculately maintained and the location is incredible! Apparently most families who stay here bring dogs but you can't tell when you're here. There's not a dog hair to be found in the place! The kitchen is well stocked, the video library is hard to beat, the flat screen TVs are amazing, and so is the view. The master bedroom faces the ocean and when the windows are open and the sea breeze is coming through it is Heaven on earth! The house is located in a very upscale neighborhood and we took walks in the neighborhood every day. If I had to find a complaint (and it's hard to come up with one) I guess it would be that the backyard isn't fenced. Our dog isn't the type that you can just let out and he'll stick around, so we had to take him out on a leash each time he needed to go potty. But who cares. We were on vacation and it was no big deal. We'll definitely be back!
