I almost don't want to give the great review I am about to. This is because I want to be greedy & keep this awesome little secret all to myself.
Now, first things first. If you are only into 5 Star Hiltons or some sterile resort environment meant for aliens - what are you doing looking to vacation in Palo Verde? But - on the other hand, if you love the Colorado River, lazy kick back days, camping type vacations, good fishing, but you want to be able to get a good rest, cook some meals, & have a shower - then you will absolutely love this place! It isn't fancy - but it feels like home. The moment "Winnie," the site manager, walked me into the place - I knew I would be so comfortable. There are all the things you need for a group of adults (4 to 6, but 8 possible) to have a great time. We stayed for about 7 days, & we didn't want to leave on the last day - we got so lucky - the next party wasn't coming for a few days, so we paid to stay an extra day! Why go home when you feel like you are already home? Just as comfortable, none of the distractions!
Not sure children allowed, but if so it would be great for a family. It is clean, the air conditioning works great, the carpet is plush, & the television has many channels, & there is Wi-Fi (which is great because your cell phone reception will be intermittent at best - but that was the best part if you ask me!)
I'm afraid that this place is going to be booked up the next time I attempt to book another week! So fun celebrating my 40th b-day with my uncles, siblings, & even Mom! All had a great time, my mom caught a big 'ole cat fish, & we barbequed every night. Drinking beers, playing games, & watching those beautiful stars - it is so dark at night that the Milky Way is like, um, VISIBLE!
Suggestion for the cooks, town is far & there ain't much there - so bring your favorite cooking tool, because while there are plenty of dishes & pots & pans, for cooks there is always that one thing that you wished you had - for me it was my large frying pan, for you? a blender? but you can ask Winnie before you arrive to determine what that is. She was so nice, and helpful. My whole family wants to see this place do well so that we can continue to return many more times - in fact, planning a winter vacation there already!
Go swim the River at "Hippie Hole" (South 78, turn left at sign "Oxbow River Access" follow around, then go left for a bit, then right to cross bridge, & go right at beach area - free access!
