Enchanting Getaway in the Big Sur

5 of 5
I cannot say enough about this property except if you choose to stay here you will not regret it. My boyfriend and I stayed for 3 nights to celebrate our anniversary and coming from the East Coast it was a perfect retreat for rest, relaxation and romance. Mary is a delightful host and she truly goes out of her way to make you feel right at home. She also kindly surprised us with flowers and a bottle of wine for our anniversary. In addition, the kitchen is plentiful with spices, teas, organic honey, cooking utensils and everything you would need (besides for the actual food) to cook something delicious on the grill outside. Aside from the kitchen, there is an outside hot tub and fireplace as well as the wood burning stove inside which is perfect for curling up next to with a glass of wine. Privacy is the key that makes this property great for those looking to really getaway from everyday life and wake up to the beauty of nature. If the yurt is a bit too chilly to sleep in at night, which we experienced coming in mid February, there is also a cozy little loft inside the cabin itself with a view of the sky to see the stars at night. This property is also conveniently located close to a few cute little towns (Monterey, Carmel) and tons of great hiking trails which allow you to spot sea lions and whales. Perfect place to capture the breath taking views of the pacfiic coast. The drive there in itself will have you stopping for pictures.. We really loved our stay here and next time may make it a full week!

Dreamy Comfortable Home

5 of 5
I looked at this property before but opted for a 100 year old cabin closer to Hwy 1. I was to rebook the 100 year old place but the listing showed not available. I later found the site was not working. How lucky for my family of 4. We found this cabin to be much more accommodating and comfortable. This is a charming home cared for with love and pride. My husband and I spent a great amount of time on the deck overlooking the forest and ridge. Just being, listening to wildlife at night, watching the forest come alive in the mornings. The deck is large and comfortable, it pulled me like a magnet upon rising. My husband was drawn there when the sun set after our day trips to the various parks and towns. He is a star gazer and brought his portable telescope for viewing. He grilled steaks one night & declared he must have a gas grill just like it. The grown kids enjoyed the panoramic views from the rooms & wifi. They were up with the dawn bird watching, enjoying the ridge wake up. The kitchen is spacious, well stocked with a large separate dining room. We dined and played board games in the dining room. It's a perfect floor plan for families. We ran the roads somewhat. The parks and area are otherworldly beautiful. The same can be said about the ridge house. We enjoyed being right there and not always going. We did dine at the local tap house burger night and dined in Monterey as well as shopped. The Ridge is close to everything but far away to wrap yourself and your senses in tranquility and peace. Thank you Cheryl & Jake for your lovely hospitality. We will be back!

Romantic & Peaceful Retreat

5 of 5
We can't say enough good things about the Little House. Maureen and Gerry are great people, and the care and craftsmanship that they have put into the LittleHouse shows. There's a positive flow throughout the entire property, and we couldn't have asked for a better place for some R&R. Being as this is the first time we booked with HomeAway, we really lucked out in finding this place. We had our mini honeymoon here, and wish we could have stayed longer. After the last year planning a wedding, this was the perfect place to unwind. Upon arrival, there were fresh flowers, and a bottle of champagne to celebrate waiting for us. It has plenty of modern amenities, coming with a fully equipped kitchen, with all cooking necessities (cooking spray, cooking oils, pots, pans, knives, etc.) and they provide light groceries (eggs, fruit, bread, milk, and plenty of bottled water). They have a ton of great books, and up-to-date DVD's, wi-fi, and a landline phone provided for you, since there is no cellular service. The use and placement of the windows and skylights not only offer great natural lighting, but gives an open feel to the home, where you can see the redwoods surrounding you. There's a stream that is parallel to the road, and just gives you that Zen feeling. The space is beautifully and efficiently designed and laid out, so you feel as if you have a lot of space. It's also close to Carmel/Monterey and Big Sur. We're already planning on booking every year for our wedding anniversary, so long as they are still available. Again, loved every single second of our stay, and wish we could have extended it. Looking to book as soon as January 2015, and again in October 2015.
