Dreamy Comfortable Home

5 of 5
I looked at this property before but opted for a 100 year old cabin closer to Hwy 1. I was to rebook the 100 year old place but the listing showed not available. I later found the site was not working. How lucky for my family of 4. We found this cabin to be much more accommodating and comfortable. This is a charming home cared for with love and pride. My husband and I spent a great amount of time on the deck overlooking the forest and ridge. Just being, listening to wildlife at night, watching the forest come alive in the mornings. The deck is large and comfortable, it pulled me like a magnet upon rising. My husband was drawn there when the sun set after our day trips to the various parks and towns. He is a star gazer and brought his portable telescope for viewing. He grilled steaks one night & declared he must have a gas grill just like it. The grown kids enjoyed the panoramic views from the rooms & wifi. They were up with the dawn bird watching, enjoying the ridge wake up. The kitchen is spacious, well stocked with a large separate dining room. We dined and played board games in the dining room. It's a perfect floor plan for families. We ran the roads somewhat. The parks and area are otherworldly beautiful. The same can be said about the ridge house. We enjoyed being right there and not always going. We did dine at the local tap house burger night and dined in Monterey as well as shopped. The Ridge is close to everything but far away to wrap yourself and your senses in tranquility and peace. Thank you Cheryl & Jake for your lovely hospitality. We will be back!

Authentic Big Sur experience

5 of 5
After many years of staying in different hotels in Big Sur, we wondered what it would be like to stay there like a local, and the Teapot made our wish come true. It is very isolated in a wonderful location; the quietest place I have ever stayed. It is immaculately maintained and the communication with the owners is outstanding. When we had a problem with the scheduling because of a work conflict, Doug went out do his way to accommodate us, and we loved the entire experience.

It truly is a retreat

5 of 5
Rating Details: I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family of 6 (including 4 children aged 12-19) stayed in the property for 6 nights. Arriving at night we were unprepared for the views that we would face the next morning as the photos on the webiste cannot do full justice to the awe-inspiring views of coastline, mountains and canyon from this property. Much thought has been given to the positioning of windows, garden seating, hot tub, and even the meditation deck to take full advantage. The property was immaculately presented and equipped with every detail considered for making the stay as relaxing as possible. The absence of a dishwasher was a minor detraction and understandable given the preciousness of the water supply. We had no reason to use the manager during the stay as everything had been taken care of. In any case, having the owner close by and his willingness to help out meant that we were very well looked after. The owner was wonderful and an absolute delight to talk to and we found much to talk about on topics ranging from art to architecture, sculpture to spirituality, and he had fascinating stories to tell about the Big Sur area. I will not cover sights, restaurants or attractions as these are covered by numerous guidebooks and everyone has their own tastes and preferences. I would have been happy not to move from the house for 6 days and it is telling that 4 essentially teenaged children were equally able to occupy themselves with art, reading and adventure. An observation - the drive up to the property is not for the faint-hearted but does become less intimidating with experience! Overall we would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this property and would happily have stayed for ever.
