We absolutely loved every second spent at The Littlehouse, I do not even know where to start this review. This place was a perfect getaway for a much needed relaxing yet exhilarating vacation. It was the perfect base camp for our amazing Big Sur adventure. Very romantic and secluded this hidden gem in the redwoods has everything needed for a wonderful and peaceful escape from reality. We were delighted upon arrival to see how impeccably clean and well-kept The Littlehouse was. The full kitchen has everything you could possibly need for preparing a home cooked meal. They have a great selection of DVDs both new and classics. There is no cell phone reception at The Littlehouse (or in most of the Big Sur area) but The Littlehouse has its own land line phone with unlimited calls both incoming and outgoing and free wireless internet. The bed is exceptionally comfortable and the bedding is clean and cozy. Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the rippling nearby stream was so relaxing. The location is great about a ten minute drive off Hwy 1 on a rustic but well-kept road. Once you are on Hwy 1 you are only about 15 miles from Carmel and another five miles to Monterey. It is also a short drive from many other spectacular Big Sur destinations including Julia Pfeiffer, Point Lobos, Garrapata State Beach, Bixby Bridge, Nepenthe, and Deetjen's Restaurant. We stayed 5 days in May at The Littlehouse and were heartbroken when we had to leave. The owners were wonderful and even though they live on the property we only saw them when we checked in and then again when we checked out. It was nice to know that they were only a phone call away if we needed anything. They designed and built this place with such tremendous attention to detail and a great use of space. They also stocked the place with fresh eggs, bread, cheese, fruit preserves, milk and a full assortment of condiments for making a delicious first morning breakfast. There was also plenty of bottled water so no need to bring your own. One tip I have for future visitors is to pack lightly because there are quite a few stairs to get up to the little house. Really all you need is your clothes and some food everything else is provided for you. (We really over packed)
We really fell in love with The Littlehouse in the Redwoods and hope to make it back again someday. I would recommend this sublime little piece of heaven to anyone looking to have a unique, relaxing, romantic, and unforgettable Big Sur experience.
