Indoor/Outdoor Cheerful Cottage!

5 of 5
The Sunny Garden Studio was perfect for me. I enjoyed the beautiful garden, the windows and skylights, the thoughtful decor and the owner is attentive and helpful. Yes, I would recommend to a friend. While I was in North Berkeley, I went to Solano Street and did a bit of shopping. I also prepared my own meals and bought groceries at the grocery store on Solano Avenue called Andronico's. It is expensive, but if you are getting only a few items, it is worth the convenience. I think there is also a Safeway nearby but Andronico's has more gourmet and unique food items. I went to Oakland during my visit, for a graduation, and had dinner with friends at The Grand Tavern. It was an interesting restaurant in an old home and had a nice bar. It was more of a serve yourself by ordering at the bar, but the food was then brought to the table by server. Fresh food, not bad. We also went to Comino's in Oakland and that was an interesting restaurant with 30 foot long tables, and the food was prepared in front of a large fire pit, at the back of the restaurant - very beautiful and would be lovely for a special occasion meal. They serve very fresh food locally grown veggies although it is a little pricey. Still enjoyed the experience. If you like Mexican Food, there are a couple of Mexican restaurants on Solano Street that are casual and good. 4th Street in Berkeley is home to Bette's Oceanview Diner, which is always a wait but worth it for breakfast or lunch only. They serve lot's of fusion diner food, I would say gourmet!! I tried their lemon risotto pancakes. They have special pancakes from time to time, this one is not always on the menu. The North Berkeley neighborhood is an area I like. This Studio was perfect for my stay and I will be definitely going back again.

Beautiful Retreat

5 of 5
This is an artfully and thoughtfully designed cottage, modern but warm, impeccably clean, in perfect condition, and stocked with beautiful amenities. The owners were helpful, friendly and immediately responsive to my questions and requests. In a picturesque neighborhood at the foot of the Berkeley Hills, it is ten minutes' walking distance to the Claremont Resort, where the owners arranged for us to use the health club and pool (for a modest fee) and two minutes' walk to a gourmet market and bakery (with great coffee). As described in the listing, parking was always available on the street directly in front of the cottage. I could not recommend the accommodation more highly, and would love to stay there again. One note, there is Wi-Fi in the cottage but no T.V. or other media. This was fine for us.

Staying Close to Home

5 of 5
My husband and I stayed at Sarah's cottage for 2 months during our Berkeley home remodel. The location was ideal, keeping us close to home to check on the progress of the remodel and in a neighborhood we know and love. The cottage is walking distance to the Solano Ave and Monterey Market shops and restaurants while the street itself is quiet and has plenty of parking. The space is comfortable and cozy and we even managed when our college-aged son showed up for a couple nights. The outdoor patio functions as another "room" and is a pleasant spot to relax. As a host, Sarah is conscientious, responsive and friendly without being intrusive. She was flexible when we needed to request a change to our start and end dates and she contacted us when she found we had left an item behind and arranged to get it back to us.
