I really don't have enough positive things to say about our stay in this lovely historic cottage in the heart of Anaheim. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for more than just a hotel room. My husband and two preschool aged children made it our home base during a three-day trip to Disneyland. The historic charm of the cottage is a welcome sight, but open and door and you will find five-star modern, brand new amenities and impeccably clean living space. The living room is bright and airy and the kitchen was as well stocked as mine at home. They grocery store is a 5 minute drive, so we stocked up for the weekend and enjoyed coffee, breakfast and picnic lunches each day as a result of having access to a kitchen. The queen bed was very comfortable, and my children liked the cozy cot-like beds for their slumber party. Peggy and Jack were lovely hosts and while completely accessible to help with anything during our stay, they also offered us privacy and access to the grounds (which was great for two children who wanted to run around and burn energy)! Take time for a cocktail on the porch, the garden setting is so tranquil.
For those traveling to Disneyland, the house is a short and easy drive to the park; and day parking is only $16. They allow re-entry access, so you can go back to the cottage to freshen up after a long day at the park. We spent most evenings at Downtown Disney which offered great shopping and dining (and you don’t need a park pass to go there).
The surrounding area had access to anything you need and Peggy provided a very helpful book of local resources. The beach is about a 30 minute drive. Newport Beach is the closest, but skip that and head to Laguna, much nicer.
We are already hoping to return to the cottage on another trip to California in 2015.
