We had a fabulous stay at Pure Villa Salantein!

5 of 5
In a word – fabulous. My wife and I and our two daughters (ages 23 and 25) spent a wonderful week at Villa Salentein. It was a rare opportunity for just the four of us to spend time together and it turned out to be everything we could hope for. The Villa was the perfect setting. Where to start? The setting is very private – we never had a sensation of having neighbors. The expansive curved patio faces out on the water, with a sweeping view toward Klein Bonaire. The overhanging roof provides great shade, and there are plenty of options for sitting or reclining. The pool is just steps away, making it easy to cool down. Just past the pool is a stairway and ladder down to the sea. Perfect for salt-water swimming, snorkeling, and diving, with plenty of life to be seen. On one snorkel we saw three incredibly small baby squid, smaller than a pinky finger. Sliding glass doors surround the living room and when you open these the inside and out are completely connected, bringing a welcome breeze through the house. The bedrooms have views of the sea when the shade panels are slid out of the way. They all have air conditioning for comfortable sleeping, and the beds are surrounded by mosquito netting. We all slept well. The location in Sabadeco is convenient for quick trips into Kralendijk. We had most of our dinners in town but ate the rest of the meals at the Villa. The kitchen has everything one could need. There was even a sampler of delicacies from one of the local shops waiting for us at check-in. The Pure Villa staff made recommendations for good dining. Pure Villa arranges with Flow Bonaire to provide service for recreational activities. Leo, the owner of Flow, kept us stocked with SCUBA tanks at the Villa, and we did the fluorescence night dive with Leo and his wife Suz. Leo also led us on the cave adventure – well worth doing. I had been to Bonaire six times before and this was something I had never experienced. Leo also pointed us to other activities, like Sea Cow for snorkeling, and Jibe City for lunch and a windsurfing lesson. All in all Villa Salentein and the support of the Pure Villa staff and Flow Bonaire were everything we might have hoped for. I am pretty well traveled, but I have been honestly telling people that I have never stayed in a place as nice as this. Hotel/resorts can have a lot to offer, but nothing beats a private villa experience like we had on Bonaire at Villa Salentein.

Another wonderful 2 weeks at Beachcomber Villas 23Aug2014-06Sept2014.

We dove. We ate. We sat on the terrace for sundowners. Yet again, we loved our stay at BCV. This time we had our daughter and new son-in-law with us, so we occupied both apartments. Beachcomber Villas is as described in all the preceding reviews. All of them are true. As one would expect, the place is clean and secure, the towels soft, the hot water hot, A/C works, kitchen fully equipped, the beds comfortable, and on and on. It is no mean feat to accomplish this on a small island, and takes a lot of hard work to keep it so. Tim and Leanne do that work when you’re not looking. Make no mistake: BCV is a special place, and it is special because of Leanne and Tim. They are two of the kindest, most gracious and considerate people you could ever hope to meet. I wonder when they have a life. Seems like they always turn up when you might need a hand, or just to perform some small act of kindness, whether it is seeing us off in the morning (with rinse water in the back of the truck) or meeting us returning from a day of diving. We’re usually pretty self-maintaining on Bonaire, but this time we left it in Leanne’s capable hands to deal with restaurant reservations, dive classes for daughter/SIL, and other activities. Everything went off like clockwork. Tim was a bit banged up this time, with injuries to his arm/shoulder. I still couldn’t convince him to leave the equipment to me and Matt. We told him to “stop it” and he said it was his job to make our vacation as enjoyable as possible, in every way. We were talking one evening about future trips to Bonaire. M & C being youngsters just starting out, I pointed out that there were many places to stay on Bonaire, some all-inclusive, at all sorts of prices that might make the trip more economical for them. He said “Yeah, but they don’t have Tim and Leanne.” I guess that sort of sums it up. Thank you, Tim & Leanne, for sharing your home with us. Brad & Sheldon Matt & Chappell

Beautiful condo!!

5 of 5
We stayed in the condo for one week in August. The location couldn't be better. We walked to town for shopping and restaurants every night. We didn't need the car except for driving to dive spots and restaurants outside of town. The private parking lot is great with a locked dive locker steps away for your gear to dry. The interior of the condo is beautiful, very well decorated and equipped. There is air conditioning in every room which was nice to come home to after a hot day at the beach. The care taker of the unit, Don was extremely friendly and helpful. The one thing I can think of that would make this condo an absolute 5 star is a telephone that will allow you to make local calls. My cell phone did not work on the island and we assumed there would be a land line in the condo, but there wasn't. We couldn't make any calls to Don, nor make dinner reservations; that would have been nice. Also remember to bring an alarm clock, as there are no clocks in the condo. On vacation normally who cares, but we had to get up for diving every morning so an alarm clock would have been nice. Overall we would definitely stay at the condo again and may. We are thinking of more of a family trip next time and the condo would work well. You can't beat the location and value.
