Divers' Dream: The Best!!!

5 of 5
Second stay at the fabulous Beachcomber Villas. We stayed a month and spent 2 weeks in each apartment, so see notes below. The hosts at this property are just unbelievable and the property itself, right on the ocean in a quiet neighborhood with a dive shop a 3 minute walk away, is wonderful. Beachcomber Villas is primarily set up for quiet, friendly couples who dive and/or snorkel. If you want to throw loud parties or you prefer not to talk to your neighbors, this property may not be a good fit. Also they do not take kids under 12. All other visitors will love it. The owners bend over backward to keep these apartments immaculate, including rewashing every single dish and utensil in the well-equipped kitchen before a new guest arrives. There are so many thoughtful touches: a lightweight portable drying rack for wet suits and towels, beer bottle cozies for your evening beverage, a few days supply of coffee so you can be awake enough to make it to the grocery store, and some old towels (which look better than my new towels) "because you never know when you may need an old towel for something." And the nice Weber Q grill on the terrace. And the cute little battery powered lamps for the kitchen or terrace that they purchased because I mentioned that the overhead light was kind of harsh at night. How about that? Both apartments are very nice. We like the smaller one a little better because it has windows on both the east and west and gets a nice cross draft which keeps it cooler. We never used the air conditioner. Of course, when those happy little rain squalls blow through, you do have to leap up and close the eastern windows. Also we left them closed when we were out, just in case. And be sure to close the window in the bathroom when you shower so the shower curtain doesn't blow around too much. In the larger apartment, the kitchen makes an "L" with the bedroom and you don't get as nice a cross breeze, so it gets pretty warm despite the fan. The owners do a good job of mosquito control; there are not many; but it seemed to me I was using the handy portable mosquito zapper more in the large apartment than the small one. We have had four sets of neighbors in the six weeks we've spent at Beachcomber, and they were all delightful friendly divers with whom we shared many a "sundowner" while sitting on our upper terrace or at the beachfront with the owners. Yarn-spinning is a Beachcomber tradition, so be prepared to share yours and listen to others'.

Beautiful condo!! Would go back in a heartbeat!

5 of 5
We were at the condo for a week in February. Responses from the owner and his assistant were prompt and the entire process was easy and smooth. No extra/hidden fees, taxes, etc. The place is nicely decorated and well furnished. The kitchen is great - we cooked a lot of meals here and we were not lacking anything. (There is even a slowcooker! seriously, this kitchen had everything) There is a supermarket a few minutes away by car. You cannot beat the location: right by the ocean and right in the middle of Kralendijk, near many of the restaurants. Be aware that the cruise ships dock at the pier right in front of the condo - so the street out front was busy with tourists, which made for some good people watching from the patio. Speaking of which, the patio was great. Comfortable chairs to sit in and relax and take a nap. Just need to mind the bugs - but we bought bug spray - I think we left a couple cans in the condo when we left. The two bedrooms were comfortable and each of them has A/C, which was a bonus since my husband cannot sleep without it. We stayed in the master bedroom - it was nice and the ensuite bathroom is great. (loved the shower!!) The second bedroom has two twins, which can be pushed together. It also have an ensuite bathroom but the toilet is separate - it's across the hall. The couple staying in that room did not seem to mind though. They have wifi! A must for us. And the tv has netflix :) The condo complex also has a small pool and has a secure storage space where you can hang your dive gear. I cannot say enough good things about this place!!! We all loved it there and felt so at home. A great find, and I would recommend this to everyone.

Lovely property in beautiful location

5 of 5
Absolutely loved staying this property for a number of reasons: 1. The apartment was beautifully finished and appointed with bbq, air conditioning in both bedrooms, fully fitted kitchen with plenty of cutlery/crockery etc, dishwasher, wifi, car parking, bath and beach towels 2. Location was great being a three min drive from the airport, five min walk from nearest beach and with easy access to supermarkets (3 min drive) and rest of the island 3. The balcony was the star - right on the water in a private marina so that you could bbq and eat next to the water (but pack some mosquito repellent - not just for here but the whole island) while viewing the wonderful sunset 4. Finally Lolymar was extremely thoughtful with welcoming touches such as flowers and drinks to welcome us after the plane journey, a guided tour of the apartment so everything was clear, tips on the local area and accesible at all times throughout the trip in case we wanted to ask questions about the apartment or local restaurants Overall, can't fault the experience at all and would heartily recommend to anyone
