We recently stayed in the Exim RSVP apartment in Somerset. Last year we stayed in the first Exim Apartment – both are very nice, and you will not find nicer hosts than Cathy & Jody, or a better value in Bermuda. The first Exim Apartment is a bit more elegant in feel while the RSVP apartment has a beachy vibe. The view from the sitting room in RSVP is amazing (the same view you get from the balcony in either apartment) -- we ate breakfast and a few takeout dinners there. Our understanding is that Cathy & Jody plan to add a small takeout restaurant and landscape the area next to the building -- can't wait to see it!
The Dockyard is about a 2 mile walk – our favorite restaurants there are Café Amici and the Frog and Onion. We also like to walk around Somerset/Daniel's Head. We even walked to Horseshoe Bay one morning, which is about 7 miles – you can get most of the way there on the railway trail. We also walked to Hog Bay Park, which is an interesting place. For those of you who are not walkers, the buses and ferries are frequent, reliable, and clean. We recommend that you get bus/ferry passes whether you walk or not, so you can visit Hamilton, St. Georges, etc.
In the Somerset area, within about a half mile walk or a short bus ride from Exim, there are several great takeout restaurants: Green Lite, Misty's Takeout, the Village Café, and a new one we didn't get to try, Gloria's Kitchen (in a yellow building on the water, on the right just after the Watford Bridge). Woody's is also a takeout restaurant with tables outside and several bars. They have the best fish and fishcake sandwiches on the island! The Country Squire across the street has a great outdoor bar – we met several friendly and interesting local people there.
We hope you get the chance to visit Bermuda and enjoy the local experience at Exim!
