A family gathering like no other in a beautiful place like few others

5 of 5
Casa Rana...all expectations exceeded! Thoughfully designed, functional, with great attention to aesthetics, furnishings and detail. Siting is exceptional--white sand, a manicured native plant landscape with palm trees framing the view to the ocean. There is solitude and privacy without isolation. A coastal ferry provides ready access to San Pedro. Local fishing, scuba and snorkeling guides make picups at the private dock. Comfortable chairs under the talapa at dock's end yield views of azure water and distant breaking reefs. The house itself has an open floorplan, the kitchen contemporary, beds wonderfully comfortable and porch to view and relax. There is a sense of harmony and peace that defines Casa Rana. Richard and Diana, the owners, are gracious, knowledgeable and accommodating. They made, at our request, all arrangements for fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling aboard the El Gato. They reside in a separate house on the property as does a full-time grounds keeper. Richard and Diana are availavle and helpful, but respectful of privacy. Their love of Casa Rana and life in Belize is apparent and reflected in this extraordinary property. Our family gathering was made perfect with adult children converging here from Washinton State, California and Sydney, Australia--each well traveled but noticeably apprecitive of what a wonderful place Casa Rana is. Asked what they liked most--the burrito guy biking past with fresh hot fare, the superfast outboard powered ferry, a nap in the hammock under palm trees, sitting with a mai tai under the palapa at the end of the dock, just soaking up the ambience. And then, maybe it was the time to hangout with family and be engulfed in the magic of Belize and Casa Rana

Perfect winter get away

5 of 5
What a wonderful oasis to spend in the sun and escape the cold of January. Our family of 5 plus 2 longtime family friends just returned 2 weeks ago and are ready to return!! Casa Tortuga is quite possibly one of the most relaxing places we have experienced. The inviting hammocks and pool were just what we needed. Although there are houses on both sides you truly feel like you are all alone on the island. I won't go into much detail, only because other reviewers have, but yes, the food and Maria's service are every bit as good as they say!!! This was my first time to enjoy this exquisite villa, but my husband and his family had been before and I guarantee you our family will be back for a third time!

Absolultely wonderful property

5 of 5
Our stay the Villa Tipsy Gecko was fantastic. The property is beautiful and very well maintained. It was like staying at our own personal resort. The bedrooms are spacious and the bathrooms like spas. The ability to walk out the back door and have access to a private pool and beach was wonderful. We took full advantage of the kayaks and paddle boards. The support staff were outstanding. They were efficient and unobtrusive. They were both very friendly and always helpful. They really are a treasure and the property management should be grateful for such conscientious employees. Chef Domingo was also wonderful and if we could take him home with us we would. It was such a treat to have someone cook meals for us. Access to the golf cart allowed us to get groceries and to go bowling and have meals at Mango's and Mayan beach resort. Both wonderful. We did not miss having a car at all because we booked our excursions thru a company in Placenia - I think the name was Pirates cove - run by Shane and Rosario. They picked us up at the house for the Mayan ruin tours and by boat on the lagoon side for the snorkeling and Monkey River excursions. All in all our stay at the Tipsy Gecko was everything we hoped for and more. A vacation we will never forget. I would highly recommend this property for anyone looking to vacation in Belize. You won't be disappointed.
