The Iguana House was perfect

5 of 5
The Iguana House was the perfect house and location for our first trip to Belize. The house is very roomy with plenty of space for all six of us, and the patio made the ideal location for morning coffee and afternoon happy hour. The views from the front porch/patio are spectacular. The location, 4 miles outside of San Pedro, was is very quiet and relaxed and a welcome relief from the chaos that is San Pedro. Nicky was extremely helpful answering our questions, making recommendations, and getting us set up for our first, but not our last, trip to Belize.

Paradise found at 18 Degrees North

5 of 5
I wanted to find a private house with a pool not too far from San Pedro to celebrate my wife's 50th B-day and 18 Degrees North was exactly what I was looking for. It is in a beautiful location right on the beach north of San Pedro and Wes, the owner, was great to work with and made sure everything was ok after our arrival. Ernesto picked us up in San Pedro and took us to his boat for a quick ride up the coast to 18 Degrees North. On the way to the house, my prized baseball cap that I have had for years flew off my head and landed in the water. Ernesto saw the whole thing happen and quickly stopped the boat and turned around. After about 10 minutes of searching, I thought I had seen the last of my cap but with Ernesto's expert eye (from his years of experience as a fishing guide), he found my cap and fished it out of the water for me. Ernesto said the old caps are the best ones as they have all the memories. I knew I had a friend for life at that point! Upon arrival at the pier, we were greeted by Ernesto's children and Taco Bell and Rojo the guard dogs. We then got a tour of the house and property and everything was perfect and as described. The pool was awesome and the house had plenty of room for us. The kitchen had everything we would need for our week in paradise. Over the next week we had the best time at 18 Degrees North and really enjoyed Ernesto and his family. One day we went cave tubing and to the Belize Zoo with Ernesto and Samantha and had a very memorable day. Ernesto is a great tour guide and knows everything there is to know about Belize, its people and can answer any questions you have. He pointed out all the interesting sights on the way and was a great guide at the Zoo. Samantha said she had not been to the zoo in years and I think she enjoyed it as much as we did! We also went on several snorkeling trips with Ernesto to see some of the best reef and fishes in the Caribbean. You can tell right away that Ernesto is an excellent waterman and is comfortable both on a boat and in the water. We went fishing with Ernesto and caught a bunch of lobster, snapper and conch and Samantha cooked us up one of the best meals we had all week right in our kitchen! Fresh conch ceviche, pan fried snapper and more lobster than we could eat! We had no complaints and cannot wait to return. Belize is a beautiful country with the most wonderful people and 18 Degrees North is the perfect place to stay! We cannot wait to return!

We (a cold Alaskan couple and a chilled Minnesota couple) had a great stay in the upstairs apartment at Casa Caracol! Phil came through with all the things he advertised. He had kayaks for us to use and we had a blast kayaking. My brother and I used them to go out to the reef. It was fun and we found muscles we hadn't used in a while (although, I think I pulled a fat instead of a muscle). Phil also set us up with a day of fishing, a wonderful boat trip to the Mayan Ruins, and a great half day of snorkeling at Hol Chan and Shark and Ray Alley. The rental is walking distance to a well stocked grocery, fresh produce stands, a wonder full bakery, and all the local shopping you want. The upstairs was perfect for the four of us. Two bedroom each with their own bathrooms with showers. A beautiful well stocked kitchen which we used a ton. The deck has a great view of the reef and is a great place to relax no matter what part of the day it is. He has a housekeeper come in every couple days and she does an amazing job!!! It was so nice having a week to not worry about anything and just relax. We had a wonderful time and Phil took all the details out of it for us. At the end of our stay, we had one credit card bill to him which included all the day excursions he booked for us and he didn't add on penny for his time and effort to set them up. He is a great guy and was wonderful to work with. We recommend him and Casa Caracol highly.
