DREAM VACATION

5 of 5
Myself, my husband and 16 year old son stayed at 18 Degrees North June 28- July 3rd. I have a hard time putting into words how awesome this trip was. First of all, the house is gorgeous and very comfortable, the ocean view is gorgeous, the privacy is perfect, the pool was so refreshing and just steps from the front door. But, the most amazing part of this vacation is Ernesto and Samantha. You truly have your very own excursion guide or personal cook. Yes, these cost extra, but so worth it. They are not pushy at all, you can schedule as little or as much as you want with each of them. But, I would highly suggest you take advantage of as many trips with Ernesto as you can possibly take. He is the most knowledgeable guide you can imagine. We swam with Manatee, nurse sharks, sea turtles, sting ray, speared and caught lobster, crab, fish. We felt so comfortable with his knowledge of the animals and you could tell he has a relationship with the animals, they trust him. He is an excellent guide. We also took a day trip to the Ruins. This is a long trip, but Ernesto put us with the best guide at the Ruins. Once again, it was our personal tour guide. No crowds anywhere we went thanks to the advice of days we should go by Ernesto. He really knows how to avoid the cruise ships or beat the rush. Samantha, is an excellent cook. She was very concerned with making sure our 16 year old enjoyed the food and he did. She cooked for us several different times. There is a small resort just a 5 minute walk down the beach, they have a beach bar that you are welcome to walk up to and have drinks, or order some food. The boat ride to town (San Pedro ) was really nice , about 15 minutes, no big deal even had some really windy days, But again, I felt completely safe with Ernesto. I would recommend this stay, it was a true adventure, followed by many evenings laying in the hammock while my husband fished off our private dock.

GREAT PLACE TO STAY - GREAT ADVENTURES TO EXPERIENCE

5 of 5
When it comes to our family’s vacations, we have two simple, yet firm, requirements: a great place to stay and great activities to experience, and our recent stay at Casa Rana over-delivered on both. A great place to stay....... Casa Rana is a unique beachfront home on the north end of Ambergris Caye owned Richard and Diana. The grounds are immaculately maintained by Omar, and “friendly canine” services are provided by Hydro (Richard and Diana’s dog). The house is beautifully decorated and we made full use of the kitchen to work around some food allergy issues we have. There was more than enough room for the four of us and the media room was great for watching World Cup updates after a long day of diving or climbing ancient Mayan ruins. The bedrooms were awesome and the bath towels felt luxurious after long days on the water. Richard and Diana offered great help planning our stay and great support during our stay. Just like waiters in a fine restaurant, they were there when you needed them and invisible when you did not. But, it was the little things that stand out like Richard getting us fresh lobster from one of his local contacts (lobster season had just opened), or Diana showing my daughter the best places to hunt for shells (later giving my daughter several beautiful conch shells). And great activities to experience........ Richard’s knowledge and network of contacts on Ambergris Caye made planning much easier than if I had to do it from scratch. With Richards help, I was able to put together a plan that included a fishing trip, a tour of the Lamanai ruins on the mainland, scuba diving, snorkeling, and sailing trips. I followed Richards’s recommendations on whom to engage with on all these activities, and each one was a pleasure. Conclusion....... I highly recommend Casa Rana as a family destination on Ambergris Caye, Belize. The house is perfect for families and you can easily use it as a base for all the activities you plan. Richard and Diana provide great, unobtrusive, on-site support, and the vendors they have built relationships with deliver quality tours and adventures. A final thought for parents..... Wake up an hour before your kids, have a cup of coffee on the front patio, and relax. The view is amazing.

LOVE THE IGUANA HOUSE!

5 of 5
This is my ninth trip to Belize. I have stayed on the main land and on Ambergris Caye each time. This is my second stay at this property. I was very happy with the help Nicky gave me and my family who all arrived at different times to the Caye. She set up the golf cart rental for us and delivered it to us upon arrival at the water taxi. There was complimentary water at the house and a cell phone for local needs. We also were privy to kayaks and bicycles which we used several times. All was great with the house which has a bathroom for each of the 3 bedrooms which is very nice for a group. The new back porch is beautiful with a laundry line which worked well for the after snorkeling attire and towels to dry. There is a BBQ but we did not use it this trip. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans, coffee maker, and hot water kettle for tea or the like. The beds are comfortable and the large eating table works well for family game nights also. The last reviewer mentioned the distance, and unpaved roads and no lighting. Seriously? Get with the island spirit! This home has all the necessary perks plus more, like a washing machine, and wifi. These are especially nice and not common in rentals here. Very close by is Mata Grande grocery so one need not go into town for food stuff, water or beer. Any tour will pick up at the pier or the one just north of the house, so excursions are easy to take. All in all my family had a wonderful time here at iguana house for the second time in 5 years. We played in the water, snorkeled, fished, and ate. Thank you Nicky for the improvements to the house and allowing us to stay here.
