ABSOLUTELY PERFECT !!!

5 of 5
Our family of 9 - ages 9 to 72 - spent Christmas week 2014 at this magnificent villa. Everything was perfect, like the best dream. The villa is beautifully situated and the decor is wonderfully eclectic. All 5 bedrooms are enormous and well-appointed. Our rented golf carts were waiting in the driveway. Soft breezes, swaying palms, hammocks everywhere, waves breaking on the distant reef, just as you would imagine. Maria is a gifted cook: freshly baked pies every night, fresh salsa, lobster, conch fritters, fish, shrimp, chicken, salads, all made from scratch. Her assistants are both warm and efficient. We ate every meal at the villa. The beautiful pool was the center of activity - cleaned every day and cool in the tropic heat. As advertised, Carlos or one of his extremely capable and friendly guide/drivers picks you up at the end of the dock - 100 steps from the villa - for a range of adventures. We took 3 snorkeling trips (including one day with three snorkel stops, the first of which was in part a hunting trip where our guides armed with spear guns harvested fish, lobster & conch for our lunch), and visited the Mayan ruins at Lamanai - all from the end of the dock. We snorkeled with nurse sharks, several species of turtles, squid, spotted eagle rays and Moray eels, as well as an outstanding spectrum of gorgeous smaller fish. The people of Belize are wonderful: disarming and welcoming. None of the hostile edge as in some places in Mexico or the Caribbean. We will be back.

Christmas at Casa Rana was outstanding!!!

5 of 5
We had the honor of celebrating Christmas 2014 at the beautiful Casa Rana luxury home and it exceeded all of our expectations. It was our first Christmas in 26 years away home and it was a truly exceptionally special experience in many ways but mostly due to the wonderful owners Richard and Diane. They were amazing hosts, guides, and just truly good, honest people who we feel so blessed to have gotten the opportunity to meet. From the time we arrived Richard & Diane were SO helpful with all of their local knowledge and assistance in helping us schedule the coolest experiences of fishing, catamaran rides, wonderful massages by the sea and going to Christmas church & dinner by boat. Sound magical?? Well it truly was. The house was beyond beautiful and SO comfortable, relaxing, well stocked with towels, yoga mates, beautiful dishes, utensils and cookware, and super luxurious beds that make you feel like you're sleeping in a dream...because you are. We would highly recommend Casa Rana to anyone who is looking to stand still in paradise for awhile.

The perfect home away from home

5 of 5
This property could not have been more perfect for our group. The house is beautiful and very comfortable, and had everything we needed. We bought most of our groceries in San Pedro (which Jim helped arrange upon arrival) and cooked most of our own meals. The house has a full kitchen, washer/dryer, and bottled water. There are also two 2-person kayaks, which we took out several times. A local guy swung by the house every morning selling burritos and tamales for $2.50/each--and they are amazing! The house is right next door to Coral Divers, which made arranging snorkeling, scuba, and fishing outings super convenient. They also arranged our transport to/from the San Pedro water taxi stop. Everything was super easy and relaxing. Amazing place for a vacation, and Iguana House is a great place for a family or group! Many thanks to Jim for everything :)
