Couldn't be more pleased

5 of 5
We spent 3 fantastic weeks at Coconut Walk and Silver Sands Beach. We couldn't be more pleased with the apartment and location. It's not in the touristy part of Barbados, so you get to experience life with the locals but are only a fast 20min bus ride away from more touristy areas. You can walk on the coastline for hours and not meet any other tourists. The area is much more chill than Bridgetown/Holetown with a lot less activity, which we found very relaxing. There is a ZR "reggae" bus stop around the corner with rides that are both cheap and full of flavor. The beach and kite surfers look fantastic from the balcony, and the house feels comfortable because of the constant breeze coming off the ocean. They also have room to park a small car (which pretty much describes every car on the island anyway), and the wifi is super fast and stable. If I remember correctly, I got something like 30-40 Mbps down and 3-5 Mbps up. I was able to use a VOIP phone with a USA number without issues. Laundry facilities are also available. But what really stood out to us on this trip compared to other places we have rented in the past was the kindness and friendliness of the owners. They are respectful of your space but always more than willing to help with directions, shopping, cooking, etc. They really went above and beyond to make our stay special and getting to know them was a real enjoyment. When we go back to Barbados, we will absolutely stay here again.

Great apartment to experience Barbados!

5 of 5
The apartment was quiet, clean, and well located to explore the beautiful beaches and coastline of Barbados. I stayed on my own but the apartment could easily suit a couple or small family comfortably. The apartment is well equipped with comfortable beds, basic kitchen equipment, TV & DVD player, and a safe. I was also able to arrange for a local SIM card for my phone with a 1GB data package. Coverage was great all over the island. Within a 2-3 minute walk is a gorgeous white sand beach with 2 or 3 surf shops nearby where you can rent kites, paddle boards, surfboards, and snorkel gear (as well as arrange lessons). The locals are friendly and helpful and enjoy talking to travelers :) If you don't rent a car, it's no problem to get around. The local transportation is frequent on the main road, just a few minutes walk to the north. 'Route taxis' stop often and the drivers will help you find your way wherever you want to go. All the beaches along the south coast (Miami, Dover, Sandy Beach, Maxwell, Welches, Accra....) are easily found within a 10-20 minute ride. The atmosphere of the neighborhood is friendly and you have the feeling of experiencing real local life. I loved having my breakfast on the sunny roof terrace. This is a great place to stay, especially if you are independent and enjoy living like a local. Highly recommended.

My wife and I have been to Barbados on several occasions and love the South coast. We thought we’d done it all, but this little gem of an apartment was a real eye-opener and superb value for money. If having the choice of two beaches to yourself within walking distance, a peaceful away from it all existence and yet being only five minutes drive or bus ride from Oistins shopping and night life appeals, try a couple of weeks at this ground floor apartment adjacent to Silver Sands beach. The main bedroom is to the rear of the building and is well air-conditioned if the ceiling fan isn’t enough – it was for us! The bathroom has an ample walk-in shower with room for two (!) and the permanent sea breeze keeps the generous sized living room and kitchen more than comfortable. There is also a nice veranda area out front ideal for eating or having a few friends over for drinks. The apartment is reasonably priced anyway, but I couldn’t believe the extras! Washing machine, iron and board, microwave, toaster, safe, colour TV and DVD, cable TV and high-speed wireless internet connection – everything you’d expect in a much pricier hotel! We normally hire a car, but there is a good bus service (no 11) which stops nearby outside the old Silver Sands Hotel which will take you to Oistins, then along the south coast via St Lawrence Gap to Bridgetown. The old hotel has been shut for some time which means the beach is yours to enjoy. There is also a charming smaller alternative called Rescue beach to the right some five minutes walk away past the equally convenient Surfers Bay restaurant and bar. It’s worth checking out the Surfers Bay bar -they serve great chargrilled food and have live music on a Sunday night, and are only two minutes walk from the front door! Oistins is five minutes away by car and has 24-hour mini marts, a Chefette and a KFC if you’re that way inclined, but also a great supermarket with a large range of healthy alternatives including Waitrose products on sale. Self catering is easy! On the other hand, five minutes walk in the other direction will get you to Silverpoint resort and restaurant (4*) where you can treat yourself to dinner or watch the kite surfers do their thing over lunch. If you like the choice of being able to have peace and quiet when you want it, then this part of the island is for you, and if you want a whole lot of bang for your buck, check out this apartment – it really is great value for money!!
