Great price, great location

5 of 5
My wife and I honeymooned in Barbados in July 2014. We stayed at Vista Villas and it was great. We took a taxi to the property, and it only cost about $35/Barbados. Upon arriving at the villa, Sacha, the owner, met us and gave us keys and a tour of our villa. From the street the outside of the villa looks plain and unassuming, but once you get inside and see the view and the ocean from the villa you'll realize you made the right choice. The villa is in Worthing, and there are a few bars and restaurants in the immediate area. There is a grocery store across the street that we used a few times for food and booze. There are a lot more bars and restaurants in St Lawrence Gap (The Gap) or in Hastings. You can get there by walking 5-15 minutes depending on where you're headed. Or you can take a mini-bus for $2/Barbados per person to almost anywhere on the island. The mini-busses are great, cheap, run frequently, can get you almost anywhere, and are a fun adventure- but not for the faint hearted as they drive crazy. But back to the villa, you can contact me for more info on the island, things to do, or places to eat. I'll answer the suggested questions. Was the listing description accurate regarding the location? Yes, very much so. Did the listing photos accurately reflect the rental's appearance and amenities? Yes. The beach is literally five steps from the patio door to the villa. Once you walk out the patio door there is a small patio big enough for a small table and two chairs. The its 5 steps down to a small fence/retaining wall. At high tide the ocean comes all the way up to the wall. At low tide there is good sized beach to play on. If we were any closer to the ocean we would've been sleeping in it! Was the property clean and well-maintained? Yes. Its a little older, but well maintained, and it was clean. Its also very safe and secure. Was the owner helpful in answering your questions or concerns? Absolutely! He gave recommendations, let me borrow his phone and paddle board, and gave us a ride when we needed it. Would you recommend this property to a friend or relative? Definitely. When we come back to Barbados we would stay here again. What nearby activities, attractions and restaurants would you recommend? Scuba diving almost anywhere. Definitely do the Jammin catamaran. The exchange rate is 2:1 US:Barbados, and you can use USD everywhere. When staying at Vista Villas request a ground floor villa for easiest beach access.

Couldn't be more pleased

5 of 5
We spent 3 fantastic weeks at Coconut Walk and Silver Sands Beach. We couldn't be more pleased with the apartment and location. It's not in the touristy part of Barbados, so you get to experience life with the locals but are only a fast 20min bus ride away from more touristy areas. You can walk on the coastline for hours and not meet any other tourists. The area is much more chill than Bridgetown/Holetown with a lot less activity, which we found very relaxing. There is a ZR "reggae" bus stop around the corner with rides that are both cheap and full of flavor. The beach and kite surfers look fantastic from the balcony, and the house feels comfortable because of the constant breeze coming off the ocean. They also have room to park a small car (which pretty much describes every car on the island anyway), and the wifi is super fast and stable. If I remember correctly, I got something like 30-40 Mbps down and 3-5 Mbps up. I was able to use a VOIP phone with a USA number without issues. Laundry facilities are also available. But what really stood out to us on this trip compared to other places we have rented in the past was the kindness and friendliness of the owners. They are respectful of your space but always more than willing to help with directions, shopping, cooking, etc. They really went above and beyond to make our stay special and getting to know them was a real enjoyment. When we go back to Barbados, we will absolutely stay here again.
