A wonderful place for much needed relaxation and decompression. This private home is subtle: a white, blue-roofed, bungalow-style, mini villa that, once you enter through the entrance hallway, opens up to a series of amazing vistas of the Caribbean sea. The gardens are punctuated by orchids, various types of palms, purple bougainvilleas, lilies and lotuses, and an authentic Thai spirit house that is quite amazing. Once we opened the blue plantation French doors on both sides of the house, there was a gorgeous breeze and a feeling of openness. Both of the main bedrooms are on opposite wings of the house, which was great for privacy. Living room was spacious and had very comfortable lounging couches. The travertine marbled bathrooms were great. Eating outside in the covered terrace for meals provided for a great indoor/outdoor feel.
We mostly lounged around the pool, with the chairs right on the water. Reading in the hammock was another favourite activity. We were very content to stay put for the first few days, but Gibbes beach was just a 5-6 minute drive down. Speightstown is also about 15-20 minutes away, which I imagined what the "old" Barbados was like,Howtown for food shopping was also about 25 minutes by car. Also easy drive times to various restaurants like LoneStar or Fishpot.
My favourites: the amazing blind kitty, Manzana (who doesn't know she's blind), that VIEW, and the orchids in bloom.
The owner, David was most gracious, responsive and very helpful with suggestions of places to visit.
A most enjoyable and relaxing retreat!
