Terrific place for active seniors

5 of 5
This villa was perfect for our needs. My wife and i stayed one month with my elderly mother. Having a main floor bedroom was a must as my mom has great difficulty with stairs. My wife and i had the upstairs bedroom from which we were able to watch the sunrise every morning (and the stars every night). Having spent an entire month at Loreto Bay we became quite familiar with the entire development, which is designed to give you the feel of being in a very old Mexican (or Spanish) village, except that everything is spotless and the landscaping is gorgeous. The only downside is that a some (or perhaps it was just one) dog owner(s) who neglect to pick up after their dog's business. Two things stood out for us about this villa. It has a large, useable interior courtyard where the three of us were easily able to stretch out. Every other interior courtyard we saw had a significant amount of the space taken up by plantings. While the plantings were often attractive ('tho some were clearly overgrown) they very much restrict the space available for lounging or entertaining. The other is the location. About twenty steps out the back door, through a pretty little public plaza takes you to the lap pool. The plaza provides a lovely view from the kitchen window and is almost always unoccupied. A 'neighbour' spoiled that view for a couple of days by parking his golf cart right outside our window, but he did move it after two requests. From the plaza, as well as the second floor deck and the third floor breezeway, one has a good view of the ocean which is perhaps a hundred yards away (also a good view of the mountains from the 2nd and 3rd floors). In the other direction it is less than a hundred yards to the 'main' street where there are two restaurants, the community center (a library actually - 'tho a very well stocked one) and the small market. Other services such as massage, mani/pedi, tour bookings, security office, concierge services and the property management company are also very close. While on the subject of concierge and property management, one couldn't hope to do better than Marco of Bahia Management who enthusiastically responded to our every need. Generally this part of the development is very quiet despite its proximity to all the services. Some noise is generated almost every day by active trades people who are maintaining or renovating villas nearby, but we never found this annoying, and it also occurs in every part of the complex.

Wonderful in everyway

Our family of 4 just returned from spending Thanksgiving week in Loreto Bay/Nopolo at this amazing home! Casa Jillian has all the comforts of home: beautiful decor, comfortable beds and furniture, complete kitchen with everything you need. Thank you Kathy for being so thoughtful in your preparations and making sure we had everything that we needed while we were there. Her property manager, Arturo, will make sure you you have beers, limes and a few basic things from mercado when you arrive. It was really nice to have a cold beer up in the tower looking at the 360' views of the bay and the mountains when we arrived. We enjoyed the the pools, the kayaks, the beach, the grounds and fountains..all of it!! Be sure to take a panga to Coronado island: 1/2 day trip, good snorkeling, sea lion colony and white sand beaches!! Beautiful!! We were sorry to have to leave but we will be back and hope to rent Casa Jillian again.

An amazing trip, a fantastic place to stay!

Michael's place is one of the best deals I have found in Baja! The house is bigger and more open than the pictures let on. It was charming from the moment you walk into the private courtyard. The living area was terrific with two or three sets of french doors that open up the space into the courtyard, a beautifully decorated kitchen and a great TV for your vegetating pleasure. The bathrooms both had big jetted tubs which comes in handy after a long day of riding motorcycles in my case, or 18 holes of golf on the near by course in what could be yours. The beds are comfortable with nice linens and the view from the roof is beautiful, both to the mountains and the sea. Besides the golf course the house is walking distance from three swimming pools and a lovely beach. The directions to the development were easy enough to follow but the development itself is a bit of a labyrinth. The caretaker/resort concierge gave us keys and helped us find the house, be prepared to track him down. The town of Loreto is about 10-ish miles away but is worth the drive. The historic part of town is beautiful with many interesting shops and great restaurants. This place is great for a family vacation, romantic getaway or anniversary, especially for non Spanish speakers because the community of Loreto Bay functions mostly in English. Again, it would be tough to find another place and get this much bang for your buck! Great value for an amazing house.
