We just returned from our week long stay at Casa Alvarado and all I can say is it was the best vacation we have ever had. We were a group of 9 late 20/ early 30s. The casa is on the perfect cove for snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding. Not a morning went by where we didn't wake up with the sun and head out on the water. It's the perfect house for whale watching(binoculars included). At one point my husband and I spotted a whale while on the kayak. It was a mother and baby humpback and they swam under us checking us out. One of the most exhilarating experiences I've had!
Each room in the main house is large and has a great bathroom stocked with all of the bathroom amenities you could want. The kitchen is beautiful and the appliances seem brand new. We spent a lot of time cooking and making yummy cocktails and couldn't have asked for a better kitchen.
Carlos is so wonderful and helped us with everything we wanted. He organized fishing for us with Roberto. Roberto picked us up right in front of the house. We asked Roberto about spear fishing and he set us up with his son Juan Angel who took the guys out spear fishing at night for lobster. This kid is very skilled. He caught 2 lobster and 2 fish in no time at all. We purchased them from him and they were delicious. Couldn't have a fresher meal anywhere! We also rented ATVs(Carlos' connection) and the guys had a blast all day exploring the beaches and desert.
You don't have to be as adventurous to enjoy this beautiful home. The pool is incredible and we spent a lot of time lounging. Some of our best times were playing volleyball in the pool.
We also had a birthday in our group and Susan sent us in the right direction to set up a birthday party. Griselda's mexican food was amazing. We also had the mariachis and had so much fun dancing and singing along. Oh, and that cake is absolutely amazing!
For groceries we found Chapitos in Los Barriles to have everything we needed. The road from Los Barriles to Punta Pescadero is pretty nerve racking the first time but our small cars never had any problems. I could see how having a larger vehicle would make you feel more secure, but its not necessary.
Carlos and Griselda came everyday (except for Sunday, of course)and did everything they could to accommodate us. We were more than happy to leave them both a tip for their generous help and services. I could go on and on. We highly recommend the Casa to true Baja lovers looking for both adventure and R&R!
