After many trips to different islands throughout the Caribbean and The Bahamas, we've finally found the perfect island. This was not only our first trip to Eleuthera it was also our first time renting a house. The island and Amori House exceeded my already high expectations.
Ten Bay is the perfect Caribbean beach - we opted for the Caribbean side because of the reputation for calm water and it did not disappoint. Why go anywhere else when the beach is so perfect?? We did explore though, and Alabaster & Gaulding's Cay were our two other favorites - both also on the Caribbean side. The Atlantic side does have great beaches, but the water was rougher during our stay, so we mostly stuck with the Caribbean side and mostly at the house. We also went to Harbor Island on a very rough day - again, great beaches, but Ten Bay fit my image of the perfect beach.
The water had the most amazing shades of blue and you could walk out a long way without being very deep. Our two young children could explore the sand bars and water without any worry while we sat on the beach and relaxed.
We did some bone fishing right in front of the house - no luck catching anything, but they were there! We also saw a nurse shark and a baby about 100 yards out just cruising the bay while we were sitting on the porch eating lunch (another reason that I love the caribbean side - you can see everything from so far out!!).
We stayed during spring break, so I assume there were more visitors to the beach than usual, but it was great for our kids as they were able to make new friends.
Anne showed us to the place and gave us a couple of loaves of freshly baked bread - it was great! Definitely stop by Island Farm - fantastic hot sauce and other tasty treats you can use during the week.
The house looked exactly like the pictures - very clean and nicely furnished. Everything we needed was provided - kayaks, snorkel sets, sand toys, beach chairs and umbrella.
I can't say enough about the house, the location and the island itself - it really was perfect.
