Aha Caribbean moment

5 of 5
Drive down the driveway, park in front of the Laguna sign, walk across the gated courtyard and through the gracious front doors into the foyer, enter into the main living space and experience that aha Caribbean moment you've been dreaming of. Yes, 180° unobstructed view of bright blue lapping water. Loved the kitchen. The large plunge pool, though not heated, is a wonderful bonus. The house was spotless, clean, no heebie-jeebies. There are neighbors set back to the right of the home and were very very quiet/private. The care takers of the Laguna, Gabby, John and Shirley are a few miles away and all great resources to aid in your stay. This was our first time in Eleuthera and not knowledgable about the location of the house, but it's actually really great. Its just a few minutes to the main town G. Habour which is a few minutes North, there is a fresh vegetable farm/store minutes to the South and then there are the wonderful Atlantic sandy beaches a few minutes to the East. We rented a car from Big Daddy rentals and highly recommend them. They were waiting for us at the airport, drove us to our rental and met us at the airport for our departure. No see ums are tiny bitting flies or something, they will bite the heck out of you at dusk so put on the Deet/Off in the early evening and you'll be thankful(there is plenty at the house if you forget your bottle). We ate at a number of restaurants all very good with the exception of Tippys, yes, it's a huge disappointment...worst service ever!...and the food is simply horrible. This is in contrast to the lovely warm hearted Bahamian service you will experience at other restaurants. If you are up for it, there are local fishermen that sell fish outside under a small tent right at the corner of Governor Harbour on the beach across the street from the Da Perk. This is the best place, maybe only place for fresh food and they will clean, fillet, whatever you need - very cool. I can't wait to return to the Laguna house in Eleuthera. The owners Kevin and Stephanie live in the US and are very responsive via email and very helpful. They returned my deposit before I made it back to my home in the US!

Simply Beautiful and Serene

5 of 5
We found Pau Pau Bay Estate to be simply Beautiful and serene! This was our first time in Eleuthera. We booked Pau Pau to celebrate a late Christmas in a location away from the cold snowy winters of the Mid-west and the east coast. Our first sighting and impression of the Estate was more than we expected. The estate is secluded on a private beach of crystal clear water. The house was immaculate and spacious! There was more than enough room for the 8 of us. We will definitely return to stay here again. The next time, however, we will order our groceries and have them delivered. We can always run out for additional items if needed. The Harbor Town grocery store was a bit pricey. The grocery store that offers to deliver, is also the best priced and offers a larger selection. They also have fresh meats. When flying in to stay here fly into Governors Airport if possible - it is the closest. We all had the best time here, and really recommend it to everyone! The Caretakers are extremely nice and helpful as well! Thank you Pau Pau Bay for one of the most beautiful, relaxing and memorable vacations, - The Gurdaks and The Walshes

Clean, big, perfect location on the caribbean

5 of 5
My husband & I stayed here for 5 days, it was very clean, it has everything you might need to have a enjoyable vacation, and to top it off it's in a perfect location on the caribbean ocean side where you can see clearly to the bottom and enjoy the ocean just steps outside the door! The owner is very kind, and helpful, they can answer any questions you might have in regard to the island. You can get in a car, and drive South or North a little way's to see some additional beaches besides the one right out side your door (but you could stay there the entire time and love it all the same) or go all the way to the North or South end of the island from this vacation spot and be at either end in a short amount ot time. This Web page doesn't show all the reviews left by guest, but TRUST ME... In each of the 3 rooms they have guest books that are filled with A+ reviews, rating this place with a high "10"!!! There was NOT even one bad review in the entire book that was in the room we stayed "The Mermaid" at "The barefoot Beachouse". We didn't get to meet Sharon, but we did meet and talked to Skip while we were there, and he was a wonderful host! Just a couple tips, I suggest is to bring meat, vegetables, and anything else that you might like to eat while your there other then fish which you can get at Governor's Harbour dock daily around 3pm to 4pm. You can get some great tasting fresh fish and you can also get a lot of conch at a reasonable price compared going out to dinner at any of the restaurant's on the island. I'd also say bring any spices, BBQ sauce, butter, and other condiments you use while cooking...packages of tuna fish for lunches, and lunch meat I'd suggest as well. The grocery stores are very limited to what you can purchase once your there. The airlines do allow coolers, we went over with one as a carry on, with no problems at all. A bigger cooler may have to be checked in if it doesn't fit in the over-head area... but that's not a problem either. This vacation rental has kayaks, glass bottom canoe, a double Kayak, a little sail boat, rafts, noodles, masks & snorkels, lounge charis on the beach, pretty much everything you might want other then fins for snorkeling. Don't be fooled by some of the vacation rentals listed on differant web pages, this place is what it states and more... We saw a couple others that we were checking into before we found this place while we were there and they are NOT all what they advertise at all.
