Best Vacation EVER

5 of 5
We spent our 14th Anniversary aboard the Manzy with Luc and his mate Maggie. By way of introduction, we are pretty well versed Caribbean travelers, having been to numerous islands and stayed at multiple 5 star all inclusive resorts. All week we kept asking ourselves “why did we wait so long to do this?” We arrived at the marina on Saturday morning, and shortly thereafter we set off on a course towards the Exumas. The weather that first day was a little rainy and cool, but that didn’t dampen our excitement or hinder the immediate de-stressing that being on the water will do. A few hours later, we arrived at Highbourne Cay, a pristine private island with a fab marina, little grocery and a good restaurant. Bicycles were free and we spent hours exploring beaches where we were the only people on them. Each day we set off for a new adventure, and our wonderful Captain Luc made sure our itinerary included plenty of memorable experiences. We snorkeled in Thunderball Grotto, visited the swimming pigs on Big Major Cay, fed iguanas and kayaked through mangroves. Snorkeling in the Bahamas is unparalleled, with untouched reefs teaming with all kinds of fish. A couple times we ventured to the “ocean side” of the islands where my husband took a stab at fishing. Each time he had Mahi Mahi on the line, but ended up losing both of them before they could make it to our plates. No matter, Luc had lobster in the freezer :) A couple of nights we were docked at a marina, some nights we were just moored out in the middle of the Caribbean tucked behind an island. We were concerned about sea sickness but neither of us had any issues at all. The boat itself is beautifully kept and spacious. We had picked out our grocery list in advance so our meals were the selections of our choice, but an unexpected bonus was Maggie’s love of cooking and her ability to turn our ordinary ingredients into restaurant quality fare. All in all, despite our extensive travels we both agreed this was the best vacation we ever experienced. I will never again set foot on a ginormous cruise ship with thousands of people when I can get back on the Manzy and travel (in high style!) to beaches that are uninhabited and we are the only visitors. My only concern in writing this rave review is that I will have difficulty securing future reservations, so Luc – keep an annual reservation for us! Thank you Luc and my new BFF Maggie for making it to the top spot in our vacation record book!
