Windchat - It is tuly better in the Bahamas

5 of 5
I was so over vacationing at the crowded hotels in Aruba, Cancun, and Puerto Rico. I was tired of having to get up at 7:00am to make sure I got a lounge chair and I was tired of waiting on line to be seated for an expensive mediocre breakfast. This is not what vacation should be about. Which is why I loved Windchat Villa in Eleuthera. My precious family vacation time was not wasted on the things you need to deal with at a crowded hotel. But instead of me telling you what Windchat Villa is not, let me tell you what we loved about it. We have two teenaged daughters so everyone was on their own morning schedule. My husband and I enjoyed a quiet morning sipping coffee on one veranda and finished our day sipping wine on another terrace watching the sunset. Our daughters got up whatever time suited them, walked down the wooden stairs and met us on the white sand. Did I mention that no one else was on the beach but the four of us? Lying on the beach we would argue over which blue was more magnificent, the water or the sky. Later in the day we changed our view to the one by the gorgeous pool. In the evenings we played board games in the loft nook. We all love to read and there were so many cozy places both inside and outside of the villa to cuddle up with a book. The local restaurants were all charming and delicious. When we wanted to eat in we were able to hire a personal chef for the evening. Everything you need or want can be arranged by Del, the concierge. One day the rest of the family took a boat tour while Del arranged for me to have a massage at the villa. Everyone was happy. The best review I can give is that we just booked again for next year! AS

Lovely Stay!

4 of 5
We were a group of 12--9 adults and three small children, all extended family. Our stay was not without glitches, but Tenecia, who welcomed us and took our calls when we needed help, and Samantha, who managed the property, were spot-on in getting things taken care of. The kitchen was in need of some equipment updates, and Tenecia was sent on a shopping trip to buy the items we needed for our stay! Presto, everything was in order for our cooking needs. There were air conditioning issues with the guest house that weren't rectified until half way through our stay, but I do understand it's not always easy to get local workers on the spot quickly. Overall, the house was wonderful! There was plenty of room for everyone, with lots of space to spread out and find your own spot to read or play games. The dining table was a great asset as we were all able to be seated together for the many meals we ate at the house. We enjoyed the pool and the hot tub and the huge hammock! The beach was great the first week or so and then toward the end of the stay the tide shifted and sea weed littered the beach. This didn't bother us much as we were leaving shortly. The beach is good for swimming or kayaking but was not clear enough for snorkeling during our stay ( I understand this is a function of the weather and the time of year). Overall, we enjoyed this lovely house and the Nassau area. The roads on island are excellent and the surroundings are landscaped and well kept. It was great to be able to hop on a bus and go to a supermarket with all the foods you need in just a few minutes. Bus drivers worked hard to be accommodating and were friendly and helpful. Taxis were available after hours when we went out for dinner as a group, and rates were very reasonable. We would recommend Cheryl Fox (she has a website online) who did our airport transfers and took us to Atlantis and back as well as some other excursions. We were impressed by the Bahamian demeanor--friendly, helpful and kind! We have stayed at a number of villas on various islands and other spots around the world, and there are always small problems of one sort or another (burned out lightbulbs, non-functioning electronics etc.), but we have never had anyone respond as promptly and take care of things so completely as Tenecia and Samantha! Thanks to them, and the lovely people in Nassau, we had a wonderful stay! Sincerely, The Smith Family

Perfect place!

5 of 5
The perfect place to come home to after a day of swimming, island hopping, or anything else. The pool is a great place to relax and unwind after a long day. The kitchen is well equipped so we didn't have to go out. Instead, we had beautiful dinners on the veranda under the stars! We cannot wait to go back!
