Perfect Long Island Villa in the perfect location!

5 of 5
Just returned from 7 nights on Long Island and could not have had a better time or experience! These Villas are perfect...roomy, open concept with a great screened in porch to sit and enjoy the Atlantic Ocean breeze and fantastic views of Chimney Rock. Robin and Mike were the perfect hosts and had everything taken care of and everything we needed in the Villa - they have thought of everything which is not easy on this remote island. The kitchen is well equipped, bathrooms are clean and spacious with nice open tile showers, the rooms all have AC and two fans to keep the breezes going. The beds are very comfortable with nice bedding. They even have satellite TV (which we only turned on to watch the NCAA basketball finals!). One of the nice things about these Villas is their location on the island. Long Island is 81 miles long tip-to-tip and these Villas pretty much sit in the middle of the island so everything is a reasonable drive (in the SUV or Jeep they provide you!). The Deadman's Cay airport is no more than 15 min and Dean's Blue Hole (must see) is approx. 20 min. The beach and swimming hole just below the Villas is also a perfect place to chill - especially during low tide. We took notice of a number of other Villas around the island over the course of the week and nothing compared to Bahama Dreamin! If you have never been to a remote out island like Long Island do yourself and your family a favor and make the trip...it's a fantastic place to enjoy the "old school" Bahamas. There's no Atlantis and very little tourists here!!!! The Baker Family.

Fantastic house in a truly amazing setting

5 of 5
Our family of six, 2 adults and 4 children ages 13, 11, and two 8 year olds spent a wonderful week at Jolly Mon in April 2015. This was our second visit to Eleuthera. The house was really special -- the setting is perfect, the house is literally perched on top of a great beach with amazing views all around. Jolly Mon is built to a very high-standard and is extremely comfortable. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and well equipped, lots of storage space for luggage etc.. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. We went in April and were able to have the doors and windows open all day and night - it was very relaxing and we slept extremely well, waking to the sound of the ocean waves and the breeze blowing through the palm trees. With four kids, the fact that we could just walk down 40 steps to the beach and swim at different intervals in the day was a great advantage - no getting four kids into the car with snorkeling gear, towels, etc! Of course the kids loved the outdoor showers! The kayaks really added to our enjoyment on the beach and there is nice snorkeling on the adjacent reefs. We hardly met anyone on the beach while we were there. We did a couple of excursions with Fishbone Tours which I would highly recommend -- Julius and Robin went out of their way to show us a good time. The children loved the tour as well as the fishing. We had two good dinners at Tippy's and got pizza from Mate & Jenny's. We loved French Leave beach and had a good lunch at the Beach House restaurant. I took Jane's advice and brought a cooler of meats in my luggage which was great to have for the nights at home. We also grilled fresh fish caught on our fishing on the grill. The property is extremely well organized, clean and well maintained. Thanks so much to the caretaker Del for checking in us regularly and to the woman who came to clean the house not eh last day. Both were so polite and helpful to us, very welcoming. Thanks also to Jane for providing lots of great information before we travelled and for her flexibility. We hoe to return to Jolly Mon one day....

Exceeded expectations by a long shot

5 of 5
First, they left a car for us at the airport which was very convenient. Second, when as we pulled up the property and the ocean came into view it took our breath away. Third, the facility and grounds keeping is clean, well-designed, open and lots of other wonderful adjectives. By far my favorite place I have ever stayed. The photos do not do it justice. I want to design my shower after this place. The Atlantic view point is windy, and the design of the building takes that potentially neutral/negative aspect and channels it into an amazing perk - meaning the front sliding door can be left wide open or just a crack to let the fresh breeze come in through the living space and through the bedroom at night to keep the air moving and fresh and cool, and also ventilating the bathroom on its way out the back of the building. There were no bugs or any other pests at all but if there had been, the screened porch would do a great job keeping them out. You can watch the sunrise from the building, or from a lower covered platform near the beach, or from the rocks out 30ft into the water past the beach, it's very satisfying to watch the sun peek up over the ocean horizon. Those rocks also offer a really fun place to do some simple exploring and rock-climbing. The hosts are very friendly and responsive and do everything they can to make your stay just what you want it to be. They do have internet access, but it is not robust enough for streaming video. The do, however have TVs and dvd players and around 50-100 movies on site you can use. Hopefully, though, that's not what you come to the bahamas to do... There is a grocery store about 5-minutes down the road with a small sellection of fresh fruit and vegetables and a few isles of canned/packaged foods. The kitchen is well enough stocked to do most things you would want. A world's top 10 beach is just an hour drive north, and Dean's deep blue hole is a must see a few miles to the south with snorkle gear. The hosts had a few sets they were willing to lend out, which were invaluable since we didn't have our own and couldn't find a place that would rent them out. Hamilton's caves were pretty fun to explore also, though they are a bit hard to find even with help from the locals.
