Up The Hill was perfect, Fabulous location

5 of 5
Up The Hill was absolutely lovely and perfect for our needs. It was very comfortable, very clean and we felt right at home from the minute we walked in! Everything worked without any issues. We loved the bright wide open view and the privacy that comes with being away from other properties. The deck was wonderful and we spent a good deal of time out there, breakfast in the morning and star gazing at night. We loved the the outdoor shower and grounds were well maintained and much of the flora was in bloom.Joan and Tony thought of everything, including fresh cut flowers on the dining table when we arrived, easy to follow instructions for the washer and dryer, important phone numbers were all readily available and easy to find they even provided much needed bug spray and flash lights too! The kitchen was so clean well organized it had everything we needed. We used the cooler in the shed on days we explored the island. Up the Hill It is an easy 5 min walk to the beach and local eateries. The beach is gorgeous but we did enjoy venturing out to see other beaches. Joan and Tony and the vacation rental team were all so helpful. They provided information about Up The Hill and useful information about the island of Eleuthera well in advance. Everyone also kept in touch during our stay to make sure everything was going well. We had an absolutely fantastic time and we look forward to our next visit to Eleuthera!

Pure, unadulterated bliss!

5 of 5
My husband and I just returned from the happiest, most relaxing vacation we have ever taken. We stayed at Aunt Marjorie’s Cottage on the small island of Spanish Wells, in the Bahamas. I had visited the island back in the 1980’s, and have always wanted to return. The water is crystalline blue, the beaches surround the island in white, powdery sand, the little conch cottages are welcoming in bright shades of pink, yellow, blue, and green, and the residents are the friendliest people you can imagine. Other than a few more streets, houses, and a real grocery store, nothing has really changed. Aunt Marjorie’s Cottage is wonderful. It is built in the old conch style, with cozy rooms that wrap you in comfort. You can open the windows and smell the sea air, using the air conditioning only when absolutely necessary. Everything is available to meet your needs, including Wifi and a toll-free phone to the U.S. While we swore that we were going “off the grid,” it was reassuring to know that we could be in contact with our family, when necessary. The house has a lovely yard and garden, with chairs for relaxing and a grill to use. We sat every day and watched doves, hummingbirds, and the neighborhood cats come to visit. A very short walk north takes you to one of the gorgeous sand beaches on the island, on which you only occasionally meet others. An even shorter walk to the south takes you to Budda’s Snack Shack, a casual, outdoor bar and grill with excellent food and a very laid-back atmosphere. Budda also has a liquor store on the premises, if you are interested. Truthfully, we ate there every night of our stay, since it was less expensive than buying groceries! While the whole vacation was an amazing experience for the senses, it would not have been the same, had we not met Roy and Linda, the owners of Aunt Marjorie’s Cottage. When we arrived, Roy met us at the town dock with our “buggy,” a big smile on his face, and a huge hug! He is vibrant, entertaining, and as we came to find, both generous, and kind. From there, we followed him to the cottage, only to find Linda waiting for us on the front steps. She had prepared a delicious lunch of baked lobster, twice-baked potatoes, broccoli, and homemade cake, ready for us to eat at the dining room table. Linda, too, is extremely kind and generous and welcomed us as if we were family. Indeed, we were treated as family during our entire stay. When Roy made his delicious conch

Solitude found at Jasmine

5 of 5
My husband and I have had the amazing fortune of staying at Jasmine many, many times over the last few years. Gail, the homeowner, goes above and beyond to ensure her guests are well-informed for their visit to this lovely get away in paradise. From the moment we first step into Jasmine, we begin to feel the stresses of life disappear. The love, sweat and tears are all evident of Gail's love for Jasmine. There really is no aspect of Jasmine that has been overlooked. An early morning mug of coffee, or tea along with a good book on the screened in porch is an excellent means of relaxation! In the early morning hours before dawn, you can hear the waves roll in and out on the beach beneath Jasmine, which for us is absolute music to our ears! The outdoor shower, along with the privacy of the backyard is the perfect place to de-sand yourself after a day of fun at any of the SEVERAL secluded beaches the island has to offer. The side deck off of the kitchen is extremely convenient when grilling lunch or dinner, not to mention the view of the ocean is breathtaking. Watching the sun rise over the ocean never gets old, whether on the beach or sitting on the screened in porch, it is always mesmerizing. Likewise, sunsets on the Carib side offer a wide variety of the color spectrum. Jasmine is one of those places you visit and don't ever want anyone else to know about because you want to keep the 'secret to yourself'. We fell in love with both Jasmine and the Island of Eleuthera pretty much immediately the first time we visited. Those feelings continue to grow every time we are fortunate enough to make the trip. If you're looking for solitude, a retreat from the everyday hustle and bustle, LOOK NO FURTHER! You've arrived!
