Life styles of the rich and famous

5 of 5
We have just returned home from our 1 week stay at the Casa Al Mare and we had a fabulous time. We were there from May 9 - 16, 2015. We were a group of seven, my husband, my self, our 2 teenage daughters, my sister in law and her teenage daughter and my daughters boyfriend. We all had lovely bedrooms and bathrooms and it made getting ready so much easier than waiting for 7 people to use the bathroom. Our bathroom in the master was the main attraction and everyone wanted to use it. There was faucets on the ceiling, the walls and a hand held shower head. You would think we had never seen a shower before ..... everyone had a turn with it. One tip to anyone reading this review .... the water appears cold at first, so you have to let it run for quite a bit and then it heats up. a few other tips to mention to save Ernestine from receiving several calls from the guests ...... the island has power outages - we only had 1 in a week and it was mid day and only lasted maybe 2 hours. When the power is out nothing is working including the phone. It didn't affect us at all, but we did call Ernestine because we thought something had happened with the fuses. We picked up a few items at the store like a potato masher, bread knife and napkins but I couldn't find a peeler at the store. That didn't phase us at all and I'm sure those items may have been there at some time, but believe me things go missing in a rental. We also have property we rent. The stove top oven has a vent tucked away so neatly and with a push of a button you're ready to cook. We hand washed most of the dishes like glasses and cutlery to keep them clean as the water is different there. We purchased bottled water and the huge water in the jug as the property water is salt and not drinkable. The huge jug was reasonable. We also rented a car and the store was minutes away and also a wine and spirits store tucked in the plaza behind Wendys drive thru. I'm not sure about the buses as we had a car and everything was so easily accessible. We were at cable beach, cabbage beach, Atlantis water park .... what a blast and they are not far away. The jet skiing at cable beach was great ... my kids were the only ones out there and it wasn't crowded like cabbage beach. They did the banana boat rides there. We also went out on a boat for the day with Carl Blades. We fished and he cooked our fish (lovely lunch) and we snorkelled. All the other reviews are spot on about the property...can't say enough

A Different, More Secluded Side of The Bahamas

5 of 5
It just seems wrong to enjoy a ~3 mile stretch of premiere Bahamian pink sand beach all by yourself, but it's not... That's Windermere Island! Everything else, except the early arrival of the rainy season, was extraordinary. If you don't already know, island life is not that of suburbia. Running water, phone, internet, and electricity are a luxury. Appreciate them when they are working and don't cook when there's a storm coming. When you do lose utilities and just say "Iz the island man" in a Bahamian accent, “ebrything gonna be airey.” The property manager LaShanta was amazing, keeping us stocked and helping us stay comfortable. Patricia & Gerry Armstrong, too, are an email or text away to offer assistance or instructions. I was blown away by the extra amenities (kayaks, snorkel equipment, bikes, beach chairs, kitchen accessories, etc.) at this Villa, everything you could ask for on an island without paying a dime more. There was also an impressive collection of suggested beaches, caves, surfing, restaurants, and guided tours in the binder on the buffet. As for Eleuthera, it’s beaches were nothing short of amazing. Explore the island, rent an SUV, go off the beaten path, crack some coconuts and make some coconut ice cream. We'd love to go back. Our family of 6 had a superb time. Thanks again Gerry & Patricia!

Awesome vacation

5 of 5
This property was everything that I expected it would be and more. Everything was wonderful. The home was very clean and well decorated , beds were very comfortable....it had everything that we needed. In fact, the house was so nice that the only time we left it was to go shopping one day, an excursion to Blue Lagoon another day, and to go out to dinner one night. We loved being poolside. My granddaughter, who is 8, snorkeled with adults in back of the house for the first time and loved that. We actually got to see stingrays and sharks swim right close to the sea wall...also spotted a dolphin jumping out of the water one day. Mark, the property owner, was very responsive to any questions we had prior to going and put us in touch with Joe, the greatest taxi man! If you book a stay here, I don't think you will be disappointed. We will go back!!!
