Couldn't get any better than this!

5 of 5
Wow, "location, location, location" is right! We travel a lot but have never stayed that close to the water before! Kathy & Fred's place is absolutely perfect. When we booked, Kathy answered our questions quickly and thoroughly and sent us lots of information and tips on places to eat, tours to take and beaches to swim or snorkel at. The villa is exactly as described - comfortable, spacious and spotless. It was great to have a washer and dryer and a couple of Canadian TV channels to keep up with the weather we were "missing" at home - NOT! - and the internet worked perfectly during our entire 11 days. While we were there we met Wendy who manages the unit and were impressed with her commitment to ensuring everything is well run and in good working order. No worries here at all, just fun times kayaking and paddle boarding on the beach in front of the resort or walking 5 minutes to gorgeous Jolly Hall Beach. Each day brought a new "treasure", from a huge starfish not far from shore to an osprey flying over our kayak. This was definitely the most laid-back vacation we've ever been on and by the end of the 11 days we were wishing we'd booked a longer stay. It was hard to leave that incredible palette of blues and greens spread out in front of us. Villa 30 was "home" at the end of a day of exploring with the car or boat - or the perfect spot to hang out when we didn't leave the property at all, and we did that a number of times, opting to eat at Splash (great Goombay Smash!) or the couple of other nearby restaurants and fish fry shacks up the road. Thank you, Kathy & Fred, for a wonderful getaway!

Absolutely perfect

5 of 5
We had a wonderful stay at Monticello! I came with my husband, 2.5 year old son, brother-in-law, and 6-year-old nephew. I was worried initially about how kid friendly it was going to be but it was perfect. Lots of sand toys - pails, snorkels, bocce balls, floaties, beach chairs, boogie board,... tennis & badminton rackets, bicycles... Unfortunately the kayaks had blown away in a wind storm before we arrived so we rented from a local guy that Barbara had recommended and had a great day visiting the cays off North Palmetto beach. Clean. Lots of towels. Washer & dryer. Well equipped kitchen. Lots of fans - we didn't need to use the AC because it cooled off a fair bit at night. Lots of lounging areas around the property - my favourite was the comfy couch on the back deck! We rented a minivan from BigE's car rental which was great - didn't test it out on the lighthouse beach road but otherwise even some of the bumpy roads were fine! They met us at the airport and guided us to the property which was very helpful after a long journey getting there to begin with. Kelly - the manager - was very helpful. Booked us a reservation at the nearest restaurant - Tippy's for our first night which was great. Offered to buy groceries before our arrival and book a private chef. Our favourite spots were the Bank Road Deli - great cold cuts, cheeses, sandwiches, croissants and coffee!!; The local nature preserve was beautiful and fun; Ten Bay Beach; Governor's Habour friday night fish fry; the Ocean Hole; The Beach House Restaurant... Felt very safe at the property and on the island in general. Barbara was most helpful with setting up our stay. Would recommend to anyone! Hope to be able to come back again one day. Thank you for sharing your place!

Holiday at Conc'd Out

5 of 5
Our family of 5 spent a relaxing 10 days at Conc’d Out in December 2014. Driving from the airport to the house you realize Eleuthera is very rare – beautiful and uncommercialized. Conc’d Out is very private on its large lot, and it is situated on a bluff that straddles a small point over the water. There are beautiful sandy beaches in on either side of the point, but to do a long walk on the beach, water shoes are best to transverse the coral, rocky stretches between beaches. Keep an eye on the ground when walking over the coral and you will likely find lovely sea glass. During our trip in December the highs were in the 70’s but the water was not uncomfortable, we could go in for ½ hour without shivering. Some of us brought 2mm wetsuit tops that allowed us to stay out indefinitely. The house is simple but spacious and, most importantly, very clean! There are tile floors throughout, easily swept to keep stray sand out. The TV had an extensive channel offerings and a special setup with about 600 movies. The downstairs bedroom can only be reached by going outside, but with a separate bath, 2 queens, and TV it was perfect for our teenagers. The furnishings are modest but clean and well kept, in keeping with the island feel. The kitchen is complete and has plenty of spices, trash bags, dishwasher detergent, etc. I would have to say the best part of staying here is getting to know Andrew and Rita, they are wonderful people – it’s like having family on the island! We brought down meat and cheese in a cooler backpack ($20 Amazon) with dry ice. We carried a few dry goods in our luggage. We were able to find everything else we needed at the small markets in Governors Harbor. Do bring any medicines , even OTC ones – I had a hard time finding children’s benadryl. We enjoyed Da Perk in Governors Harbor, Tippy’s on New Years, and of course the Friday night Fish Fry (all reached within 10 minutes from the house). We spent most of our time at the beaches right in front of Conc’d Out. On a few windy days we went over to Ten Bay beach which is very calm and shallow – it was about 15 minutes from the house. We also spent a day at Surfer’s beach. Overall we found the Atlantic ocean side beaches more fun to explore with lots of fish off the reefs, beautiful coral, and long wide sandy beaches. The best endorsement we can provide – we just sent in a request to go back this year!
