A Different, More Secluded Side of The Bahamas

5 of 5
It just seems wrong to enjoy a ~3 mile stretch of premiere Bahamian pink sand beach all by yourself, but it's not... That's Windermere Island! Everything else, except the early arrival of the rainy season, was extraordinary. If you don't already know, island life is not that of suburbia. Running water, phone, internet, and electricity are a luxury. Appreciate them when they are working and don't cook when there's a storm coming. When you do lose utilities and just say "Iz the island man" in a Bahamian accent, “ebrything gonna be airey.” The property manager LaShanta was amazing, keeping us stocked and helping us stay comfortable. Patricia & Gerry Armstrong, too, are an email or text away to offer assistance or instructions. I was blown away by the extra amenities (kayaks, snorkel equipment, bikes, beach chairs, kitchen accessories, etc.) at this Villa, everything you could ask for on an island without paying a dime more. There was also an impressive collection of suggested beaches, caves, surfing, restaurants, and guided tours in the binder on the buffet. As for Eleuthera, it’s beaches were nothing short of amazing. Explore the island, rent an SUV, go off the beaten path, crack some coconuts and make some coconut ice cream. We'd love to go back. Our family of 6 had a superb time. Thanks again Gerry & Patricia!

Bahama Breeze @ Casa del Mar, Exumas

5 of 5
We loved staying at this home. So comfortable, clean and roomy. The property was as described - and so close to the beautiful beach. It was quiet & peaceful. The property manager was very helpful when we had to call him. Wendy was so good to work with. You need to make the trip to Santana's & have the lobster - delicious. Driftwood is a good lunch place. Lots of good places to eat. Wendy was great to work with. I would highly recommend this home to a friend. Wish I was still sitting on the gazebo looking over that beautiful blue water!

Most relaxing vacation EVER!

5 of 5
We had arrived to this very well maintained home located within steps of the beautiful tranquil turquoise blue ocean. The large veranda with lounge seating gave view to this ocean and after traveling all day provided comfort. The soothing sound of the ocean gave an instant relaxing feeling. The inside of the home was spacious and open. Master bedroom with ensuite was located on one side of the home and the other bedrooms with there own private bath were located on the other side. The kitchen provided plentiful seating to accompany our family. The home offered air conditioning but with the beautiful breeze off the ocean and the sound of the waves there was no need for any electrical noise. Sleeping at night with all the windows open offered the same breeze and with the sound of the waves made falling asleep that much easier. This home sits off the main road making it very quiet. As for dining, we chose to eat out frequently. If you enjoy karaoke then try Charlies. Its a little hole in the wall on the Queens Highway heading towards town. There food was wonderful. Its a small place so arrive early if a large table is needed. Then downtown is Peace n' Plenty. Wonderful atmosphere and music located directly on the water. Breakfast and Dinner meals were fabulous. Also off the main road with a few right and left hand turns was Chat and Chill. A little pricey but the atmosphere was fantastic. If you enjoy a large plate then try The Emerald Bay Pub and Grill. Its a new establishment and the wait for your food may be long. But it will be worth it! If you want to dine fancy or casual then try the Grand Isle. Located near Sandals resort. Beautiful atmosphere and food is also very delicious. If you want to cook at home there is Exuma Market located downtown. But with the cost of food at the market it made more sense to have someone cook for us. Plus no clean up. I would definitely rebook this home. It's one of the nicest ones on the island and how can you beat being lulled to sleep by the ocean. And yes, after spending 10 days there we felt very safe leaving the windows opened at night. Don't hesitate to book. With this location I can see it becoming a favorite and booking fast. Glad I already put my name in for next year. Enjoy your stay as we did.
