Fantastic house in a truly amazing setting

5 of 5
Our family of six, 2 adults and 4 children ages 13, 11, and two 8 year olds spent a wonderful week at Jolly Mon in April 2015. This was our second visit to Eleuthera. The house was really special -- the setting is perfect, the house is literally perched on top of a great beach with amazing views all around. Jolly Mon is built to a very high-standard and is extremely comfortable. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and well equipped, lots of storage space for luggage etc.. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. We went in April and were able to have the doors and windows open all day and night - it was very relaxing and we slept extremely well, waking to the sound of the ocean waves and the breeze blowing through the palm trees. With four kids, the fact that we could just walk down 40 steps to the beach and swim at different intervals in the day was a great advantage - no getting four kids into the car with snorkeling gear, towels, etc! Of course the kids loved the outdoor showers! The kayaks really added to our enjoyment on the beach and there is nice snorkeling on the adjacent reefs. We hardly met anyone on the beach while we were there. We did a couple of excursions with Fishbone Tours which I would highly recommend -- Julius and Robin went out of their way to show us a good time. The children loved the tour as well as the fishing. We had two good dinners at Tippy's and got pizza from Mate & Jenny's. We loved French Leave beach and had a good lunch at the Beach House restaurant. I took Jane's advice and brought a cooler of meats in my luggage which was great to have for the nights at home. We also grilled fresh fish caught on our fishing on the grill. The property is extremely well organized, clean and well maintained. Thanks so much to the caretaker Del for checking in us regularly and to the woman who came to clean the house not eh last day. Both were so polite and helpful to us, very welcoming. Thanks also to Jane for providing lots of great information before we travelled and for her flexibility. We hoe to return to Jolly Mon one day....

Holiday at Conc'd Out

5 of 5
Our family of 5 spent a relaxing 10 days at Conc’d Out in December 2014. Driving from the airport to the house you realize Eleuthera is very rare – beautiful and uncommercialized. Conc’d Out is very private on its large lot, and it is situated on a bluff that straddles a small point over the water. There are beautiful sandy beaches in on either side of the point, but to do a long walk on the beach, water shoes are best to transverse the coral, rocky stretches between beaches. Keep an eye on the ground when walking over the coral and you will likely find lovely sea glass. During our trip in December the highs were in the 70’s but the water was not uncomfortable, we could go in for ½ hour without shivering. Some of us brought 2mm wetsuit tops that allowed us to stay out indefinitely. The house is simple but spacious and, most importantly, very clean! There are tile floors throughout, easily swept to keep stray sand out. The TV had an extensive channel offerings and a special setup with about 600 movies. The downstairs bedroom can only be reached by going outside, but with a separate bath, 2 queens, and TV it was perfect for our teenagers. The furnishings are modest but clean and well kept, in keeping with the island feel. The kitchen is complete and has plenty of spices, trash bags, dishwasher detergent, etc. I would have to say the best part of staying here is getting to know Andrew and Rita, they are wonderful people – it’s like having family on the island! We brought down meat and cheese in a cooler backpack ($20 Amazon) with dry ice. We carried a few dry goods in our luggage. We were able to find everything else we needed at the small markets in Governors Harbor. Do bring any medicines , even OTC ones – I had a hard time finding children’s benadryl. We enjoyed Da Perk in Governors Harbor, Tippy’s on New Years, and of course the Friday night Fish Fry (all reached within 10 minutes from the house). We spent most of our time at the beaches right in front of Conc’d Out. On a few windy days we went over to Ten Bay beach which is very calm and shallow – it was about 15 minutes from the house. We also spent a day at Surfer’s beach. Overall we found the Atlantic ocean side beaches more fun to explore with lots of fish off the reefs, beautiful coral, and long wide sandy beaches. The best endorsement we can provide – we just sent in a request to go back this year!

Windchat - It is tuly better in the Bahamas

5 of 5
I was so over vacationing at the crowded hotels in Aruba, Cancun, and Puerto Rico. I was tired of having to get up at 7:00am to make sure I got a lounge chair and I was tired of waiting on line to be seated for an expensive mediocre breakfast. This is not what vacation should be about. Which is why I loved Windchat Villa in Eleuthera. My precious family vacation time was not wasted on the things you need to deal with at a crowded hotel. But instead of me telling you what Windchat Villa is not, let me tell you what we loved about it. We have two teenaged daughters so everyone was on their own morning schedule. My husband and I enjoyed a quiet morning sipping coffee on one veranda and finished our day sipping wine on another terrace watching the sunset. Our daughters got up whatever time suited them, walked down the wooden stairs and met us on the white sand. Did I mention that no one else was on the beach but the four of us? Lying on the beach we would argue over which blue was more magnificent, the water or the sky. Later in the day we changed our view to the one by the gorgeous pool. In the evenings we played board games in the loft nook. We all love to read and there were so many cozy places both inside and outside of the villa to cuddle up with a book. The local restaurants were all charming and delicious. When we wanted to eat in we were able to hire a personal chef for the evening. Everything you need or want can be arranged by Del, the concierge. One day the rest of the family took a boat tour while Del arranged for me to have a massage at the villa. Everyone was happy. The best review I can give is that we just booked again for next year! AS
