Eleuthera isn't for everyone...but it is for US!

5 of 5
It took way too long for me to review this property! First of all, please do not go to Eleuthera if you are seeking luxury and convenience. You won't find it. Part of the beauty of this place is that it is AUTHENTICALLY BAHAMIAN! Sometimes the town water goes out (happened one morning while we were there and we just waiting till it was back on that afternoon to shower), sometimes the cable goes out (generally bootlegged from the US anyway). Sometimes things break that are out of the owner's control (like the fridge freezing up when we were there-no big deal, we just used the cooler for day or so till the maintenance guy came by and fixed it). You are in paradise people! We went to a different secluded beach everyday! My only regret was that February is a rough month on the Atlantic side-and that happens to be where the best snorkeling is. Don't get me wrong, we snorkeled on the Caribbean side and it was calm and crystal clear, but not near the abundance of sea life that we would have seen behind this house on the Atlantic side! If you are renting this house, maybe do it in some other month if you are planning to spend most of your time snorkeling and fishing/spearfishing. The mornings and evenings were a little too cool and windy during that time of year, though the views are amazing. I would love to go back to Off the Reef in a different month. Property was just as advertised. Must sees/eats: -Jack's Bay beach-you'll be alone -Lighthouse Beach, Get a jeep -Island Farm (fresh bread certain says, be there before they open!) -Rose at Northside Inn & Restaurant, Rock Sound (good prices, good conversation, great view) -Tippy's for drinks and a good band -Bucaneer Club in GH, reasonably priced and good authentic food (roaming chickens too!) -French Leave Beach-Go to the Beach House bar for drinks -Sammy's Place-Rock Sound-good food -GH Fish Fry Notes: -bring an international GPS and a book of beaches with coordinates -bring an underwater camera -take your snorkel gear, cooler of drinks, bug spray (DEET-spray it on you every morning before you go outside), swimsuits, and suntan lotion EVERYWHERE with you! Just in case! -get your alcohol and groceries when/where you can--everythings closed on sundays except SOME restaurants/bars We didnt get up to the Northern end of the island, but we will in Dec. when we're staying up that way! We are going to pack a suitcase with non-perishable food and a cooler bag with frozen meat this time. Enjoy! Cheers!

Picture perfect and lots of Privacy!

5 of 5
My husband and I just returned from our first visit to Eleuthera, and we could not have chosen a better place than Two Dunes. This house sits right on the beach and the only thing between you and the water is about 4 or 5 steps down from the deck and that beautiful pink sand! The beach is pretty extensive in either direction so you will have plenty of privacy! Lounging on the outside deck after a dip in the ocean with that wonderful breeze is absolute heaven and who doesn’t love to shower outside ;) There is no traffic passing the house due to the condition of Banks Rd, so privacy was not an issue. Although, don’t forget to pack some OFF or something like it because no matter where you are on the island, those little no-see ums can be vicious. The pictures of the home, inside and out, are pretty accurate. A new bar height dining set by the front door to the porch was one of our favorite places to enjoy meals. The view is beyond spectacular. But considering the openness of the floor plan and floor to ceiling windows, all the views are spectacular! The kitchen was well stocked, which allowed us to do most of our own cooking, mainly on the grill provided. There were plenty of fresh towels and the house itself was immaculate. We were fortunate to meet Natasha, the caretaker, on our first day and she was a true delight and very willing to answer any questions we might have. One night we had a thunderstorm, nothing major, but a lot of lightening which shut off the TV’s digital library, not that we spent much time in front of the TV, but I thought I would reach out to Rachel (the owner) and ask about it. Within no time at all, I had a response with some simple instructions to get everything back on track. It was very impressive – considering it was the weekend, but not surprising! Rachel is wonderful about responding so quickly! The location of the house makes it great for exploring other parts of the island. Lighthouse Beach is a must see! However, there is nothing like enjoying the wonderful beach right outside your own door. I would highly recommend stopping at Country Café, about a block or so past Millard’s Variety, for one of the best burgers you could ever imagine! They also have pizza and ice cream! We were extremely pleased with our overall experience with Two Dunes and of course the great communication with Rachel and Will, and are already looking forward to making plans for a return trip!!

Beautiful view

5 of 5
Loved the view from the bedrooms, main area, and the lanai. Palm trees frame the beach view and sway in the wind just like in your favorite island movie. We all enjoyed the large, sandy, rock free, beach area in front of the house. Spent everyday in the warm water swimming and kayaking. Opened the windows and doors, the entire time, and enjoyed the ocean breeze. Loved the house and all the vegetation surrounding it. Wonderful to have the open living environment especially after and long Ohio winter. Everyone was very friendly and laid back. The only problem was trying to return to work and pretend not to still be running on "island time". Thank you Ken for answering all our questions and tips for a enjoyable stay. Thanks for the great memories and we will return.
