Very nice home on a nearly private beach

5 of 5
We loved staying at this home on Long Island, Bahamas! The house has a great octagonal floor plan that allows the ocean breezes to cool the home no matter which way the wind blows. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. Everything is well-maintained in and around the house. There is a private path that leads down the hill to the beach. We spent many hours sitting in the gazebo on the beach and taking walks. Other than catching a brief glimpse of a neighbor at a distance once, we never saw anyone else on the beach the whole week we were there. It is amazing to realize that the only footprints in the sand are yours! The owners were terrific before and during our stay. They helped us settle in, and it was good to know that they were available if we needed anything, since we did not know anyone else there. The house is in the tiny community of Miley, on the Atlantic Ocean side of the island. It is about a 10-15 minute drive to Clarence Town, where we went for most of our shopping and meals eaten out. There are no chain restaurants or stores on the island, and the food in the local restaurants is fresh, affordable and delicious--we fell in love with the traditional dish, peas 'n' rice. All of the people are friendly and helpful. For sightseeing, there are beautiful beaches and the famous Dean's Blue Hole that are close. We would recommend renting a jeep though, because once you go off of the one main road that runs the length of the island, the going is rough. If you love peace and quiet with beautiful, secluded beaches, this is the perfect place to go! I give it my HIGHEST recommendation.

Perfect getaway

5 of 5
We have just spent 7 days at Solstice and have loved every minute of it. The position is perfect with a short stroll to the water. The house had everything that we needed and we were able to cook all of our meals. The Kayaks were so much fun for everyone, we got to explore the shoreline and saw a shark and stingray in our travels. We had perfect weather the whole time and got to sit on the deck every evening and see the sun go down over the water. Our neighbours Mark and Jill were so kind to us and made our stay here even more rewarding, we would like to thank them especially. The wildlife was more than we expected and gave us a few interesting moments. We would love to go back and spend more time there.

A special place

5 of 5
Thank you Judd and Dale for sharing your Island home with us everything was perfect. Our boys particularly enjoyed the surf and snorkeling on the Atlantic side and the Wifi at your home a good balance of disconnect for them.We were taken by the people that live here, there is a contentment with them that is so genuine it seems spiritual. Omar came to help us with our car and I wanted to give him something for his effort, (he had come out of his way with his whole family to help) and he said "no way don't live that way here, we just help each other, enjoy your stay".... It was like that everywhere, this is a very special place. There is a fresh frozen meal of Mahi Mahi in the freezer for who ever comes next. Much Love, The Wendells
